MADISON COUNTY, Miss. (WLBT) – The man accused of kidnapping and killing his pregnant ex-girlfriend, Glynis Jackson, has received a trial date.

The suspect, Joshua Andrews, appeared in Madison County Court on Monday for a status hearing, where he learned that trial will begin on February 1, 2027.

It won’t be happening in Madison County, however.

Andrews’ attorney filed a motion to move the trial venue from Madison County to the Mississippi Gulf Coast, arguing Andrews cannot receive a fair trial in Madison County due to the nature and publicity surrounding the case.

Judge Dewey Arthur granted the motion. Arthur said he will identify a specific Gulf Coast county for the trial by the end of business Tuesday.

WLBT News was the only media outlet in the courtroom Monday morning.

In January 2025, Jackson, a mother of three, was kidnapped by Andrews, who allegedly forced her into a vehicle and fled onto Interstate 55.

Jackson jumped out of the vehicle, and another vehicle struck and killed her. She also had been shot multiple times.

Andrews was charged with capital murder and being a felon in possession of a firearm, and later denied bond.

In March 2025, Investigator Barry Chandler said Andrews was seen on surveillance video at the Nissan employee parking lot grabbing Jackson by the neck from behind and holding a gun to her head.

Jackson was forced into the driver’s side of a car, which authorities said was reported stolen by his sister.

Results of an autopsy determined Jackson was pregnant and shot in the back and leg.
