JACKSON, Miss. (WLBT) – Jackson police are investigating after a woman was found dead behind a home Monday night.
Hinds County Coroner Jeramiah Howard said the woman’s body was discovered behind a residence in the 500 block of Road of Remembrance.
The woman was found hanging in a tree. Authorities are treating the case as a death investigation.
Howard said the woman’s body will be transported to the Mississippi State Medical Examiner’s Office, where an autopsy will be performed to determine the cause and manner of death.
The woman was later identified as 29-year-old Tasia Fortune, according to officials.
Fortune’s next-of-kin has been notified.
