JACKSON, Miss. (WLBT) – Southern Miss baseball and Mississippi State baseball both rose in this week’s D1 Baseball Top 25 rankings, while Ole Miss remains the No. 17-ranked team.
Southern Miss claimed a road Sun Belt Conference series over South Alabama, rising to No. 12 in the rankings, despite dropping game three against the Jaguars.
The Golden Eagles will return to action Tuesday to face Tualne on the road.
Mississippi State swept reigning College World Series champions LSU at Dudy Noble Field, returning to the Top 10 at No. 10 heading into the Governor’s Cup in Pearl on Tuesday, April 28.
Ole Miss notched one win in a three-game home series against the No. 5 Georgia Bulldogs, and the Rebels retained their ranking.
The Rebels will look to win a second-straight Governor’s Cup at Trustmark Park, their seventh overall, to close the gap on State’s 11 Governor’s Cup wins.
