JACKSON, Miss. (WLBT) – For more than a month, the JTRAN workers’ strike is ending.
The decision to end the strike comes after a 29-9 vote Thursday.
According to JTRAN officials, workers are set to return with a new contract “that meets the Union’s demands for fair pay, better working conditions, and strong benefits.”
JTRAN union workers officially went on strike July 13 after failing to reach a deal with JTRAN contractor MV Transportation.
“Our members stood strong and united throughout this process. MV tried to divide us. They brought in scab bus operators and refused to address our concerns,” Local 1208 President/Business Agent Charles Tornes, Jr. said in a statement. “This strike shows that our members are willing to lay it all on the line for justice. I want to thank our riders, and all our allies for coming out and standing with us.”
This is a developing story.
