JACKSON, Miss. (WLBT) – Visit Jackson announced the theme for this year’s National Travel and Tourism Week: “Postmarked in Jackson, Mississippi: Where America’s History Lives.”

Local leaders, tourism partners and community stakeholders kicked off the events.

Mayor John Horhn talked about the significance of travel, economic growth and community pride in the capital city.

“As mayor of the city of Jackson, that this week, May 3rd through 9th, 2026, to be National Travel and Tourism Week in Jackson, Mississippi, and let’s get out there and keep growing, keep crowing, keep telling our story,” Horhn said.

Horhn presented a proclamation to Dr. Rickey Thigpen, President and CEO of Visit Jackson.

Additionally, Terry High School senior Jaleah Gray was crowned Miss Hospitality, and Wilkins Elementary student Jessi Lynn Turner was crowned Little Miss Jackson Hospitality during the press conference.
