NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) – The National Weather Service (NWS) issued a catastrophic flash flood emergency Thursday for Pearl River County, and county officials said the Anchor Lake Dam is “in danger of failure.”
NWS officials said “emergency management reported the failure of Anchor Lake Dam causing flash flooding downstream on the East Hobolochitto Creek” around 3:30 p.m. However, Pearl River emergency officials said the dam is “in danger of failure.”
On June 18, emergency officials said around 55,000 people are in the downstream path of the flooding. Anyone between Interstate 59 and Caesar Road was told to evacuate to higher ground immediately.
The flash flood warning is in effect until 5:45 p.m. CDT.

The NWS is calling this a life-threatening flash flood from the failure of Anchor Lake Dam.
