JACKSON, Miss. (WLBT) – Pleasant conditions stick around in this forecast! Highs today will top out in the upper 80s for most and overnight we will see cooler temperatures, getting you out the door tomorrow in the low to mid 60s.
The good news is we have more of the same through the end of the work week. The bad news is we continue to stay dry. We are hurting for rain in central MS with a current deficit of about 2.5 inches. We will get a new drought monitor tomorrow morning to show how widespread and serious any drought is.
Enjoy the “cooler” weather while it lasts because another warmup is in store by the weekend. Highs will rise to the mid and upper 90s and mugginess will increase making it feel more like triple digits by Sunday. We may see a return of heat alerts by next week as humidity continues to increase. The only good part of that is rain chances will also increase (a little). Some of us may see scattered showers/t-storms by the start of next week, with the potential for more widespread rain by the end of the week.
