    MSNBC buries NBC News report on Hunter Biden laptop, offers less than 4 minutes of coverage

    MSNBC largely ignored NBC News’ own report verifying the Hunter Biden laptop after the network previously dismissed it as Russian disinformation. 

    NBC News became the latest legacy media organization to offer delayed legitimacy to the growing scandal plaguing President Biden‘s son. 

    The Peacock network published a story Thursday headlined, “Analysis of Hunter Biden’s hard drive shows he, his firm took in about $11 million from 2013 to 2018, spent it fast,” citing documents showing the fortune he made while working for the Ukrainian energy company Burisma, as well as through his business ties to a Chinese energy company. It also aired a package about the story Wednesday on “NBC Nightly News,” its flagship evening program.

    The report also highlighted some of Hunter Biden’s expenditures showing he “spent more than $200,000 per month from October 2017 through February 2018 on luxury hotel rooms, Porsche payments, dental work and cash withdrawals.”

    “NBC News obtained a copy of Biden’s laptop hard drive from a representative of Rudy Giuliani and examined Biden’s business dealings from 2013 to 2018 based on the information available on the hard drive and the scope of the documents released by the Senate,” the report stated.

    NBC News offered on-air reporting of Hunter Biden during Wednesday’s “NBC Nightly News” and Thursday’s “Today,” but it barely got any coverage on its 24-hour sister network. 

    The report was only mentioned on one show, MSNBC’s “Andrea Mitchell Reports,” clocking in at just three minutes and 40 seconds. Mitchell’s noon audience had 616,000 viewers and only 55,000 in the key 25-54 age demo.

    None of MSNBC’s most-watched shows in primetime, hosted by Chris Hayes, Lawrence O’Donnell as well as Medhi Hasan, who had been filling in on “MSNBC Prime” this week after the 9 p.m. ET timeslot was left vacant by Rachel Maddow Tuesday through Friday. 

    MSNBC did not immediately respond to Fox News’ request for comment.

    MSNBC, known for its unabashed liberal commentary, infamously blasted the New York Post’s reporting about Hunter Biden’s laptop in the final weeks of the 2020 presidential election. 

    Right out of the gate, “Morning Joe” co-host Joe Scarborough declared the story “false” and later declared the story was “so obviously” Russian disinformation, asking, “Why are we spreading the lies here?”

    Co-host Mika Brzezinski cited multiple reports about intelligence agencies investigating Giuliani’s dealings with “alleged Russian agents,” as well as whether emails from Hunter Biden’s laptop are “linked to a foreign intel operation.”

    “Morning Joe” blasted Trump for calling on then-Attorney General William Barr to launch an investigation into the Bidens, with NBC legal analyst Barbara McQuade insisting there’s “no there there” for the DOJ to investigate. McQuade suggested Trump was using the Bidens to deflect from his own legal troubles. But unbeknownst to the public at the time, DOJ had already launched a years-long investigation into Hunter Biden’s finances.

    MSNBC anchor Katy Tur mocked the Post’s story, saying it “dropped like a bomb,” but to “wither under scrutiny, not really dropping like a bomb.” NBC News national security correspondent Ken Dilanian called it a “fishy story” despite acknowledging that various emails and images that came from the laptop looked “legitimate.”

    “We have no idea, and neither does the New York Post, whether any of it was doctored or forged or faked. And that’s why the mainstream news media has declined to really touch the story because it just lacks credibility,” Dilanian told Tur. “We now know that Russian disinformation… is as dangerous to our democracy as anything exposed in these emails.”

    “Deadline: White House” host Nicolle Wallace was more confident in dismissing Hunter Biden’s laptop, telling viewers, “We shouldn’t look at it as anything other than a Russian disinformation operation.”

    MSNBC anchor Stephanie Ruhle attacked those who were covering the Hunter Biden controversy, referring to it as a “so-called story” with “unverified claims.”

    “We are now four days away from the election and the truth is more important than ever,” Ruhle told her viewers. “The truth is that we’re in the middle of a pandemic. The truth is that millions of Americans are out of work. The truth is we have to listen to science. And in these final days, instead of debating crowd size or unverified claims or conspiracy theories, we should be talking about policy, values and ideas.”

    Roe v. Wade draft leaker’s identity remains unknown

    The unprecedented leak of a draft Supreme Court opinion on abortion has left many outraged, but so far the identity of the rogue clerk or justice remains entirely unknown.

    An anonymous individual leaked a bombshell draft opinion to Politico on Monday, showing a ruling that would overturn Roe v. Wade. The leak included the entire text of the opinion as drafted in February of this year, which suggests the leak came from high up in a justice’s office. 

    “We at the Court are blessed to have a workforce – permanent employees and law clerks alike – intensely loyal to the institution and dedicated to the rule of law. Court employees have an exemplary and important tradition of respecting the confidentiality of the judicial process and upholding the trust of the Court,” wrote Chief Justice John Roberts in a Tuesday statement. “This was a singular and egregious breach of that trust that is an affront to the Court and the community of public servants who work here.”

    Additionally, Roberts confirmed he requested the marshal of the Supreme Court to launch an investigation into the matter.

    The Supreme Court confirmed Tuesday the authenticity of the document. It is not immediately clear what crime the anonymous source would be charged with, nor the legal ramifications, if he or she is identified.

    The FBI has not opened a formal investigation into the incident at this time, and other federal agencies have remained silent. 

    Fox News Digital reached out to the Department of Justice for clarification on the legal implications of leaking Supreme Court opinions. The DOJ declined to comment.

    President Biden on Tuesday reacted to the leaked draft of the Supreme Court’s opinion striking down Roe v. Wade, saying he believes that “a woman’s right to choose is fundamental,” and arguing that “basic fairness and the stability of our law demand that it not be overturned,” while saying any potential final decision on the case by the high court should push voters “to elect pro-choice officials” during November’s midterm elections.

    Previously, in response to legislation in Texas restricting abortions, the president had tasked the Departments of Health and Human Services and Justice with seeing what steps the federal government can take to “ensure that women in Texas have access to safe and legal abortions as protected” by Roe v. Wade, as well as what legal tools the administration has that could “insulate women and providers from the impact” of the Texas law. 

    Biden, on Tuesday, added that if the Supreme Court “does overturn Roe, it will fall on our nation’s elected officials at all levels of government to protect a woman’s right to choose.” 

    Lawmakers behaving badly

    Congress is kind of like a Shakespearean play.

    There are political leaders who struggle for power. King Lear. Claudius in “Hamlet.” Duke Frederick in “As You Like It.” Heroes like Othello and Hamlet. Sages like Friar Laurence in “Romeo and Juliet.” And Shakespeare often employed a court jester or comic to speak truth to power. Feste in “Twelfth Night” or Touchstone in “As You Like It.”

    We have all of these archetypes in Congress.

    And then there is a laughingstock. Someone like John Falstaff.

    Shakespearean scholars describe Falstaff as perhaps the Bard’s most complex character. A flawed, boastful, yet intelligent figure. In fact, Shakespeare thought so highly of Falstaff that he appears in three plays, and his death is even eulogized in a fourth.

    Congress has characters like this, too.

    Rep. Madison Cawthorn, R-N.C., may not have appeared in any of Shakespeare’s shows. But he certainly shows up just as frequently in media reports as Falstaff.

    Rarely a day passes without some new story emerging about Cawthorn.

    Allegations of cryptocurrency insider trading. Bringing a loaded gun to the airport. Bringing a loaded gun to the airport again. Pictures of Cawthorn in women’s lingerie. Police citing him for driving 87 mph. Then citing him again for driving while his license was revoked.

    Cawthorn recently claimed that fellow lawmakers invited him to drug-infused parties with all sorts of debauchery.

    Cawthorn has been married and divorced during his short tenure in Congress.

    But we’re not through.

    A picture and video surfaced of a congressional aide younger than Cawthorn, groping him. 

    The information emanates from a filing submitted to the quasi-official “Office of Congressional Ethics” (OCE) by the political group Fire Madison Cawthorn. The group is angling for Cawthorn to lose his primary on March 17. Sen. Thom Tillis, R-N.C., is now backing GOP North Carolina state Sen. Chuck Edwards in the primary. It is extremely rare to have a sitting senator support someone else in the primary of a home state congressman of the same party. 

    After the latest dustup, Cawthorn tweeted that “only fighters are attacked.” In another tweet, the congressman observed, “Many of my colleagues would be nowhere near politics if they had grown up with a cell phone in their hands.” Cawthorn then bragged on Twitter that he “gained 43,000 followers since the coordinated assault against me and my re-election. 

    It’s notable that Cawthorn crowed that he “built my staff around comms rather than legislation. 

    Cawthorn is right about the supposition that many lawmakers would suffer from the same problems he has now if iPhones and Snapchat were around decades ago. Social media doesn’t do wonders for lawmakers and ethics. There are too many videos. Too many pictures. Too many college parties. And generally, too many shenanigans. 

    Cawthorn has been a member of Congress for just 16 months. He’s just 26. One must be 25 to serve in the House. Cawthorn is the youngest Republican to ever to become a House member.

    However, Cawthorn is far from the first scandal-plagued lawmaker to darken the doors of Congress. It’s just that he’s the one in the catbird seed now. And it’s augmented in the era of social media.

    But we have been here before on Capitol Hill when an avalanche of allegations and troubles cascade onto a member. 

    Where do we even start?

    HARRIS TESTS NEGATIVE FOR COVID, WILL RETURN TO WHITE HOUSE

    Here are some of the “characters” who seized the congressional tableau long before Cawthorn came on the scene. It’s a host of sagas that played out under the Dome.

    In 2018, former Rep. Blake Farenthold, R-Texas, faced a torrent of criticism from multiple former aides about inappropriate comments and conduct. Farenthold conceded when he won in an upset in 2010 that he didn’t know “how to run a congressional office.”

    Former Rep. Tom Garrett, R-Va., left Congress after problems with alcohol. His aides said that Garrett and his wife required them to run errands and take care of their dog.

    In 2007, undercover police officers arrested former Sen. Larry Craig, R-Idaho, in the Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport on charges of disorderly conduct in a bathroom stall. Craig’s foot allegedly touched the foot of an undercover officer in the other stall. Craig told the officer that he “has a wide stance.”

    “I am not gay. I have never been gay,” said Craig after pleading guilty.

    Craig’s arrest unfolded in June 2007. But word about Craig’s arrest never filtered out until August. At first, Craig said he would resign. Craig rescinded his decision a few days later. Craig remained in the Senate until January 2009.

    In 2006, explicit text messages materialized that former Rep. Mark Foley, R-Fla., sent to teenage pages in the House of Representatives. Foley immediately resigned.

    The FBI raided the Congressional office of former Rep. William Jefferson, D-La., in May 2006. The Feds later charged Jefferson with bribery. Federal Judge T.S. Ellis sentenced Jefferson to 13 years in prison — the longest sentence ever given to a congressman. The House Judiciary Committee even held a hearing looking into the constitutionality of the FBI’s actions. In other words, why does one branch of government — the executive branch — have the right to execute a raid on the legislative branch of Congress?

    Former Rep. David Wu, D-Ore., faced allegations of sexual assault with an 18-year-old woman in 2011. Wu later said the encounter was consensual. Wu resigned. Not a lot of people remember much about the sexual assault allegations. But then a photo emerged of Wu in a tiger suit. The tiger suit photo wasn’t great for Wu — and had nothing to do with the sexual assault allegations. But that’s what everyone recalls.

    Former Rep. Eric Massa, D-N.Y., didn’t even make it through his first term. The House Ethics Committee launched a probe into Massa after male aides accused the congressman of sexual harassment. On Fox, Massa described what had been characterized as “tickle fights” with an aide.

    “Not only did I grope them. I tickled him until he couldn’t breathe, and then four guys jumped on top of me,” said Massa.

    And then there was former Rep. Anthony Weiner, D-N.Y.

    In 2011, Weiner sent lewd photos of himself in his underwear to a woman following him on Twitter.

    Weiner claimed he could not say “with certitude” that the photos were his. There were hints his account was hacked. But Weiner refused an inquiry by the U.S. Capitol Police.

    Weiner even tried humor to deflect attention from the scandal. He told a gaggle of reporters in the Speaker’s Lobby off the House floor that the photo in the boxers may have shown “the tip of al-Qaida’s spear.”

    Weiner resigned after a pressure campaign by House Democratic leaders.

    Former Rep. Trey Radel, R-Fla., didn’t last a term. Police arrested Radel in a sting and charged him with possessing cocaine. Radel became known as the “Cocaine Congressman.” He quickly resigned.

    These are just a handful of misdeeds that sent Congress into a tizzy.

    DESANTIS ACCUSES DISNEY OF COZYING UP TO CCP, MAKING ‘A FORTUNE’ WITHOUT MENTIONING ATROCITIES

    Some of these are full-blown scandals. But others are just strange. Lawmakers behaving badly.

    Former Rep. Cynthia McKinney, D-Ga., punched a U.S. Capitol Police officer after she was stopped avoiding a magnetometer entering the Longworth House Office Building. The officer didn’t recognize McKinney as a Member of Congress. Lawmakers are generally exempt from passing through security on Capitol Hill — although everyone must now walk through magnetometers to enter the House chamber.

    The House Bank scandal rocked Capitol Hill in the early 1990s. An investigation found that hundreds of lawmakers wrote hot checks with insufficient funds in their accounts for years.

    The early 1980s featured “Abscam.” The FBI probed multiple House and Senate members for bribery and conspiracy. FBI agents posed as Arab sheikhs and offered bribes to politicians in exchange for favors.

    Each of these tales merited daily news coverage by the congressional press corps. Such is the case today with Madison Cawthorn. Cawthorn’s had his run-ins with the law on the road and at the airport. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., questioned whether authorities twice-afforded Cawthorn special treatment after bringing a firearm to the airport. Pelosi claimed there seemed to be a “double standard” with Cawthorn.

    Most of Cawthorn’s troubles stem from questionable social media posts — especially for a member of Congress. Like in Shakespeare’s plays, congressional veterans have seen similar characters facing allegations and problems like Cawthorn.

    Members of Congress are human like everyone else. Scandals and foibles. And bad judgment.

    Near the Capitol is the Folger Shakespeare Library. A statue of Puck from A Midsummer Night’s Dream points generally in the direction of the Capitol. The inscription: “What fools these mortals be.”

    MSNBC, ABC, CBS, NBC all avoid covering the demise of CNN+

    None of the liberal networks drew any attention to the dramatic implosion of CNN+, which debuted just weeks ago. 

    Warner Bros. Discovery shocked the media landscape on Thursday by announcing it is pulling the plug on CNN’s streaming service following reports of a disappointing launch. 

    CNN+ is the first major casualty following the mega-merger of WarnerMedia and Discovery. The streaming service reportedly had a whopping $300 million price tag that gave numerous low-rated CNN stars programs like Jake Tapper’s book club, Anderson Cooper’s parenting show, an Oprah-style talk show from Don Lemon and a daily program from Brian Stelter. 

    CNN+ STREAMING SERVICE TO SHUT DOWN AFTER JUST ONE MONTH

    Big names outside of CNN were even recruited to boost the appeal of CNN+ like Chris Wallace, Kasie Hunt, Rex Chapman, and Jemele Hill. 

    However, CNN’s gigantic business blunder did not receive a second of attention from its direct competitor MSNBC nor did it receive any coverage on ABC, CBS and NBC’s evening newscasts, according to Grabien transcripts.

    This isn’t the first time the liberal networks circled the wagons on behalf of CNN. In December, none of them acknowledged the ousting of CNN producer John Griffin, who was accused of child sex crimes.

    MSNBC, in particular, has a lengthy history of turning a blind eye toward CNN’s woes. The Peacock network completely avoided the downfall of CNN president Jeff Zucker, who was allegedly forced out for failing to disclose a consensual relationship with a deputy executive but was revealed to have aided now-ousted New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo in the early months of the coronavirus pandemic. 

    ‘SORRY STATE OF AFFAIRS’ AT CNN AMID RATINGS WOES, AND LOOMING REGIME CHANGE AND ‘SUBOPTIMAL’ STREAMER

    Also getting no attention is the brewing legal battle between CNN and its former star anchor Chris Cuomo.

    Notably, MSNBC did address the breaking news of Cuomo’s firing in December after having avoided his suspension stemmed from revelations from the New York Attorney General’s investigation into his ousted governor brother. At the time, CNN alluded to “additional information” the network had learned. Days later, The New York Times reported it was a “sexual misconduct” allegation from a “former junior colleague at another network.”

    MSNBC, as well as ABC, CBS and NBC, previously ignored the sexual harassment allegation made by veteran TV producer Shelley Ross, who alleged in a New York Times guest essay in September that Cuomo grabbed her buttock at a 2005 event as ABC colleagues. Ross produced the email he had sent to her apologizing for the incident.

    CNN Worldwide CEO Chris Licht issued a memo to staff on Thursday announcing the newborn streaming service was being terminated effective April 30. 

    CNN TURMOIL: MSNBC KEEPS UP NEWS BLACKOUT OF RIVAL CHRIS CUOMO, JEFF ZUCKER SCANDALS

    “As we become Warner Bros. Discovery, CNN will be strongest as part of WBD’s streaming strategy which envisions news as an important part of a compelling broader offering along with sports, entertainment, and nonfiction content,” Licht wrote. “We have therefore made the decision to cease operations of CNN+ and focus our investment on CNN’s core news-gathering operations and in further building CNN Digital.” 

    “This is not a decision about quality; we appreciate all of the work, ambition and creativity that went into building CNN+, an organization with terrific talent and compelling programming. But our customers and CNN will be best served with a simpler streaming choice,” Licht added.

    The decision comes after widespread speculation that CNN’s new parent company, Warner Bros. Discovery, would scale back or eliminate the service after a long-planned merger between Discovery and WarnerMedia was completed earlier this month. Many industry insiders have wondered why CNN even launched the service when the merger was looming. 

    On March 28, CNN threw a swanky launch party for CNN+ on the eve of its highly publicized premiere. Executives, on-air personalities and reporters who are friendly to CNN attended the soiree at an event space located on the 101st floor of Hudson Yards, overlooking Manhattan. WarnerMedia and Discovery completed the merger on April 8. 

    JEFF ZUCKER SAGA: MSNBC CONTINUES ON-AIR BLACKOUT OF GROWING CNN SCANDAL

    CNN+ customers will receive prorated refunds of subscription fees, the company announced. 

    The failed service was the brainchild of former CNN president Jeff Zucker and former WarnerMedia CEO Jason Kilar, who are no longer with the company. 

    A spokesperson for Zucker declined comment when reached by Fox News Digital.

    CNN+ launched a month ago with little fanfare and was quickly mocked when leaked subscription data that revealed startlingly low numbers.

    CNN executive vice president and chief digital officer Andrew Morse, who oversaw the service, will exit the company. 

    “We are grateful to Andrew for his significant contributions to CNN Digital and CNN+ over the years,’’ Licht said. “He and his team created a quality slate of rich and compelling content and helped produce and distribute CNN’s journalism around the world on a variety of platforms. We appreciate Andrew and everyone’s hard work and dedication.’’

    Morse did not immediately respond to a request for additional comment. 

    CNN named Alex MacCallum, current head of product and the general manager of CNN+, as the new head of CNN Digital.

    Many have reacted to the news that the founders of Black Lives Matter lavishly spend donated money on luxury mansions by asking: How can Marxists behave this way? One activist was even quoted as saying that this must mean they are capitalists. This reaction, though, is based on a complete misunderstanding of Marxism and capitalism.

    The BLM organizations raise money in the name of social justice, but to them that does not mean helping individual Black Americans improve their lives. What it means is fundamentally altering the American system, and imposing Marxism, an alien ideology with a 100 percent rate of failure, on our country.

    The very concept that Black lives do indeed matter, has always been the group’s greatest strength. At the same time, it has also become its Achilles heel. 

    BLACK LIVES MATTER SCANDAL: ABC, CBS, NBC AVOID SHOCKING REPORT OF GROUP’S $6 MILLION MANSION PURCHASE

    Who could oppose the idea that lives of our Black fellow citizens matter? On the other hand, when your actions make clear that your goals are something different people will start asking tough questions.

    And people are asking questions. They include people like Michael Brown Sr., the father of Michael Brown and Lisa Simpson and Samaria Rice, the mothers of Tamara Rice and Richard Risher. All three had children killed by police in situations that BLM claimed showed the anti-Black bias of law enforcement. They have each complained that they haven’t seen a penny from BLM.

    Brown’s declarations are the most poignant since it was after his son’s shooting in Ferguson, Missouri in 2014 that BLM emerged into a nationwide organization with real political muscle. He released a video in 2020 asking where the money had gone that raised off of his son’s name.

    The two mothers, meanwhile, have called on The Black Lives Matter Global Network Foundation (BLMGNF) to stop capitalizing on their tragedy. “We don’t want or need y’all parading in the streets accumulating donations, platforms, movie deals, etc. off the death of our loved ones, while the families and communities are left clueless and broken,” they wrote in a statement. “Don’t say our loved ones’ names period! That’s our truth!”

    Just where is all that money? New York magazine broke the news last week that BLMGNF had purchased a $6 million California mansion and went through great duplicitous lengths to keep it hidden.

    The Washington Examiner’s Andrew Kerr meanwhile revealed earlier this year that BLMGNF had also spent $8 million a Toronto mansion that had been the headquarters of the Communist Party of Canada.

    This comes atop revelations last year that BLM co-founder Patrisse Cullors had bought several other mansions worth millions.

    The Internal Revenue Service hasn’t the foggiest where the rest of the money is. We are not talking about chump change here. The Black Lives Matter Global Network Foundation (BLMGNF), the flagship of BLM, itself affirmed that it raised over $90 million during the George Floyd riots of 2020.

    But as Fox Business’ Danielle Wallace reported in February, the attorneys general of California and Washington State have had to suspend BLMGNF’s fund-raising capacity because it is delinquent on its 2020 financial reports.

    The mainstream media has finally had to report on this story, because it became a farce that they hadn’t. So even the Washington Post’s Karen Attiah is now asking, “Do they think we’re stupid? For years, people marched, got tear-gassed, donated and literally put their lives on the line in the hopes of Black emancipation — not a Black influencer McMansion.”

    Patrisse Cullors years ago told anyone who would listen that she and BLM co-founder Alicia Garza are “trained Marxists.” They are indeed, trained by committed communist theoreticians intent on bringing down America.

    The problem is much deeper. For years, Attiah and most other journalists have hidden the truth about BLM.

    The goals of Cullors, Alicia Garza, Opal Tometi, Melina Abdullah, and the other founders of BLMGNF have always been evident —at least to those listening.

    Garza was very clear about her all-encompassing goal when told a gathering of Marxists in Maine in 2019, “We’re talking about changing how we’ve organized this country … I believe we all have work to do to keep dismantling the organizing principle of this society.”

    You got that? This is what they mean to do, a root-and-branch transformation of everything American, so that when they are finished, the only thing that will be left the same will be the name, if that. Just to make sure that everyone understood, our very home-grown Vladimir Lenin spoke plainly about power.

    “Power is very much about deciding who gets to make decisions and who doesn’t,” Garza told the enthralled Maine leftists. “Power is about deciding where resources go and where they don’t go, and why.” Capitalism, she says, is racist.

    When I associate Garza with Lenin, the leader of the revolution that made Russia communist in 1917, I am not being gratuitous.

    Cullors years ago told anyone who would listen that she and Garza are “trained Marxists.” They are indeed, trained by committed communist theoreticians intent on bringing down America.

    Cullors approach is also total. In a video that has now mysteriously gone private, she said the organization doesn’t just want to defund police – it is intent on “getting rid of police, prisons and jails, surveillance, and courts.” 

    No society survives that, and they know it.

    Abdullah, the daughter and granddaughter of committed communists, meanwhile tweets with disdain, “It does not hurt my feelings when white-supremacists call me a Marxist. I’d be much more upset to be dubbed a capitalist.” 

    Tometi praises Venezuela’s “participatory democracy.”

    Activist Keyanna Celina told New York magazine that after the revelations of mansion purchasing, “I think it is important, concerning Black Lives Matter, that they more or less be identified as capitalists.”

    Er, no. Stalin, Brezhnev, Andropov, Chernenko and all the other leaders of the Soviet Union all had their country dachas. Don’t be fooled, they loved their beautiful homes but they also hated capitalism and never gave up the Marxist fight. 

    BLM’s leaders haven’t become capitalists or changed their minds about overthrowing the American system. It’s just more comfortable to plan the revolution from inside a $6 million mansion.

    The three broadcast networks are turning a blind eye towards a growing scandal plaguing the Black Lives Matter organization. 

    A stunning report from New York Magazine last week revealed that the Black Lives Matter Global Network Foundation had bought a 6,500-square-foot mansion in southern California with cash in October 2020, following months of the civil unrest sparked by the murder of George Floyd.

    GOP lawmakers have begun calling on the Justice Department to investigate the politically powerful nonprofit.

    However, ABC, CBS and NBC have not addressed the brewing controversy on their morning or evening newscasts since the story broke last Wednesday, according to Grabien transcripts.

    Black Lives Matter defended its luxurious purchase in a lengthy Twitter thread. 

    “There have been a lot of questions surrounding recent reports about the purchase of Creator’s House in California,” Black Lives Matter’s official Twitter account posted. “Despite past efforts, BLMGNF recognizes that there is more work to do to increase transparency and ensure transitions in leadership are clear.”

    In subsequent tweets, BLM called a flurry of reports looking into the group’s finances “inflammatory and speculative” and blamed them for “causing harm.” The reports “do not reflect the totality of the movement,” the organization claimed.

    The organization continued to defend where some of their funds have been spent, citing $3 million to COVID relief, $25 million to Black-led organizations, as well as working to pass federal legislation against qualified immunity for police officers.

    The series of tweets concluded with the group declaring they were “embracing this moment as an opportunity for accountability, healing, truth-telling, and transparency” and “working intentionally to rebuild trust.” 

    Notably, their account turned off replies to the tweets.

    According to the report from New York Magazine, the property was referred to internally by BLM leadership as its “Campus.”

    “Our angle — needs to be to deflate ownership of the property,” an internal BLM memo said, according to the report, after the New York Magazine reporter asked them about the house. That suggestion was one of several responses floated, with others including, “Can we kill the story?”

    The same memo reportedly included bullet points about Campus, such as how it is used by the “cultural arm” of BLM, and could be used as an “influencer house” where artists can create content, and as a “safehouse.” The memo also reportedly acknowledged “[h]oles” in what it called the “security story,” as the house would be used for publicly available YouTube videos.

    Two days after the reporter reached out to BLMGNF, board member Shalomyah Bowers emailed a statement claiming that BLMGNF purchased the property “with the intention for it to serve as housing and studio space for recipients of the Black Joy Creators Fellowship,” a program that was reportedly announced the next day as providing “recording resources and dedicated space for Black creatives to launch content online and in real life focused on abolition, healing justice, urban agriculture and food justice, pop culture, activism, and politics.”

    This isn’t the first time BLM has drawn scrutiny over its finances. In April 2021, the co-founder of the political movement, Patrisse Cullors drew attention for purchasing four homes for $3.2 million, according to a report by The New York Post. Critics noted Cullors previously described herself as a “trained Marxist.”

    A month later, Cullors said she would step down from her role as executive director of the Black Lives Matter Global Network Foundation. 

    Days after this latest story, Cullors wrote an Instagram post denouncing the story as a racist and sexist attack on the organization.

    “Real Time” host Bill Maher chastised the Hollywood elites who gave Will Smith a standing ovation moments after he assaulted Chris Rock at the Academy Awards. 

    Maher kicked off the panel discussion Friday night by addressing what he called a “national moment” where “the whole country is paying attention to something.”

    “It exposed, I thought, a lot of aspects of this society we have which are not terribly positive — toxic masculinity, victim culture,” Maher said. “Liberal hypocrisy, I think, was the big loser.”

    The HBO star asked his guests what they thought of the standing ovation Smith received. CNN legal analyst Laura Coates asked why Smith was “even there” to accept the Oscar for Best Actor instead of being escorted out. 

    Former Democratic presidential candidate Andrew Yang suggested the standing ovation occurred “because it was Will Smith” and that anyone else would have been “ushered out of there very quickly.”

    “I do feel like it’s part of the job of a world-famous celebrity attending an award show to absorb mild insults directed at you and yours,” Yang said. “I ran for office and people said things around me I didn’t like, and I didn’t get up and smack anyone.”

    “These are the very people who are always talking about micro-aggressions in the workplace and how you should be, you know, not have to face an uncomfortable moment or, you know, people shouldn’t touch you or unwanted leave. Suddenly, they were okay with this,” Maher said. “It just seemed to show, to me, broken morals. Like, you really have no principles.” 

    “When it’s a star that you like in the service of some vague principle into intersectionality like your wife shouldn’t be insulted even in a mild way, then it’s like, well, too bad. That’s what I like. It made me feel good. So I forget my principles … It was a bad night for liberal hypocrisy,” Maher continued.

    The “Real Time” host railed about how the Oscars have become a “representation” of the Democratic Party.

    “Why is the D so toxic? Because they look at the Oscars and they — it represents sort of, like, pandering. It represents sort of, like, where we’re not connected to everyday people … I mean, this year was a disability, gay and race, which there should be a movie made about these topics, they’re important topics, but it looks like the Oscars only do those topics,” Maher said, referring to Oscar winners Troy Kotsur, Ariana DeBose and Smith.

    Yang told Maher that while campaigning in states like Iowa and Ohio, voters would “recoil” when he would say he was running as a Democrat and how they associate the Democratic Party with “this kind of insincere moralizing that condescends to them.”

    “And I think when you describe what happened the Oscars as exposing how some rules seem to apply more to some bigger than others, I think that’s part of the frustration, you know, from the folks that were reacting to me when I was on the trail,” Yang said. 

    Maher mocked how the “woke” define the word “violence” and how they “broadened” the definition.

    “Actual violence? Not a big deal,” Maher quipped.

    The legacy media is finally shedding light on the growing scandal plaguing Hunter Biden, but the way the five liberal networks address (or don’t address) his laptop they all dismissed during the 2020 presidential election is rather suspect. 

    CNN, MSNBC, ABC, CBS and NBC all reported this week how the years-long DOJ probe into Hunter Biden’s finances is “heating up” as witnesses continue to give their testimony. President Biden’s son is being investigated for potentially violating tax and foreign lobbying laws as well as alleged money laundering. 

    HUNTER BIDEN SAGA: WASHINGTON POST AUTHENTICATES LAPTOP AFTER DISMISSING ‘FAKE’ SCANDAL IN 2020

    The five networks, along with the rest of the legacy media, infamously downplayed the bombshell report from the New York Post in the final weeks leading up to the 2020 election that put a spotlight on Hunter Biden’s shady business dealings overseas based on damning emails that emerged from his laptop. At the time, the five networks either disregarded the scandal as right-wing conspiracy theories or the result of a “Russian disinformation” campaign.

    This week, The Washington Post published a bombshell report about Hunter Biden’s multimillion-dollar deal with a Chinese energy company, which has been swept up in the DOJ’s investigation. As part of its reporting, the Post was able to authenticate the contents of the laptop. 

    CNN and MSNBC spent far more time covering former President Trump’s remarks this week urging Russian President Vladimir Putin to look for “answers” regarding Hunter Biden’s business dealings, particularly in Russia than the Hunter Biden scandal itself, which received zero coverage on their primetime shows Wednesday and Thursday night, according to Grabien transcripts. 

    CNN SAYS GIULIANI ‘TRIED TO GENERATE MEDIA ATTENTION’ WITH HUNTER BIDEN LAPTOP IN 2020 AS NETWORK SPIKED STORY

    While MSNBC did briefly address Washington Post’s reporting about the president son and his ties to the Chinese energy company, it completely ignored how the Post authenticated the controversial laptop. 

    The Peacock network was not alone. Neither ABC nor CBS mentioned that the laptop they previously dismissed has now been verified on their morning and evening newscasts, according to transcripts.

    After overlooking the laptop on Wednesday evening and completely ignoring Hunter Biden the next morning, NBC finally addressed the laptop on “NBC Nightly News.”

    “People familiar with the federal investigation of Hunter Biden, which he himself disclosed a year and a half ago, say it is broader than he first described it with a growing number of witnesses called before a grand jury,” NBC News correspondent Pete Williams said. “It began as an examination of whether he paid all the taxes he should have on income from his work for foreign companies, including Burisma Holdings, a Ukrainian energy company. This email from a former business partner, for example, found on a laptop Biden used, said he failed to disclose $400,000 paid by the Ukrainian company.”

    “That laptop which he took to a Delaware shop to get repaired but never reclaimed was seized by the FBI, but not before Trump lawyer Rudy Giuliani got a copy of its hard drive, which he shared with congressional Republicans,” Williams added. 

    MSNBC’S ANDREA MITCHELL SAYS HUNTER BIDEN SAGA HAS ‘A LOT OF SMOKE’ BUT CALLS IT ‘TRUMP CONSPIRACY THEORIES’

    CNN briefly addressed the legitimacy of Hunter Biden’s laptop while at the same time downplaying it on its poorly-watched morning program “New Day.”

    “So there’s a lot of issues that the Justice Department is looking into including, of course, this laptop that on the right-wing, has featured a lot of stories by about Hunter Biden,” CNN correspondent Evan Pérez told anchor Brianna Keilar on Wednesday. “We know the FBI has possession of it and that they believe it is his laptop, that the contents of it are his. The question of whether this is relevant to the investigation, we don’t know.”

    Moments later, CNN White House correspondent John Harwood rushed to defend President Biden, baselessly claiming there was “zero evidence” that Hunter Biden’s father is connected to the alleged corruption.

    “It seems pretty clear that Hunter Biden was trading on his father’s name to make a lot of money, he’s had a difficult life, but until someone makes a nexus between what Hunter Biden has done and official activities of Vice President Biden or President Biden, it’s a not-pretty picture, but it’s not really of much public import in terms of the policy of the United States or the administration of the government,” Harwood told Keilar.

    CNN was previously caught spiking the Hunter Biden laptop story in the final weeks of the 2020 presidential election, according to recordings released by Project Veritas in December 2020.

    “Obviously, we’re not going with the New York Post story right now on Hunter Biden,” CNN political director David Chalian said during a conference call on Oct. 14, the same day the New York Post published its first story on Hunter Biden’s emails. Chalian later insisted the report was “giving its marching orders” to the “right-wing echo chamber about what to talk about today.”

    “The Trump media, you know, moves immediately from — OK, well, never mind — the [Michael Flynn] unmasking was, you know, found to be completely nonsensical to the latest alleged scandal and expects everybody to just follow suit,” then-CNN president Jeff Zucker told his staff on Oct. 16. “So, I don’t think that we should be repeating unsubstantiated smears just because the right-wing media suggests that we should.”

    Apparently such messaging was received by CNN talent like Jake Tapper, who dismissed the allegations against Hunter Biden as “too disgusting” to repeat on-air during the 2020 election and said the “right wing is going crazy.” 

    CNN media correspondent Brian Stelter suggested the Hunter Biden scandal was “manufactured” and a product of pro-Trump “whataboutism.”

    “For all we know, these emails were made up, or maybe some are real and some are fakes, we don’t know,” Stelter told his viewers at the time. “But we do know that this is a classic example of the right-wing media machine.”

    The latest reporting came days after The New York Times published its own report about the DOJ’s investigation into Hunter Biden, which also authenticated his laptop.

    “This Afghan government was going to collapse rapidly because of the way in which we got out,” Obama Homeland Security Secretary Jeh Johnson said in a CBS interview highlighted in the video.

    “I think of John Kennedy and the Bay of Pigs,” Obama-era CIA director Leon Panetta said in a CNN interview. “It unfolded quickly, and the president thought everything would be fine and that was not the case.”

    Obama’s Afghanistan Ambassador Ryan Crocker remarked the botched withdrawal has “created a global crisis,” while Obama’s senior adviser David Axelrod called the pullout a “disaster” and said the execution was indefensible.

    The ad also highlighted comparisons by former CIA director John Brennan and other high-ranking Obama officials of the fall of Afghanistan to the Dunkirk evacuation and the fall of Saigon.
