Prince William, Kate Middleton to attend Tom Cruise’s ‘Top Gun: Maverick’ premiere in London

NEWYou can now listen to Fox News articles!

Prince William and his wife Kate Middleton will be hitting the red carpet.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are expected to join Tom Cruise for his U.K. premiere of “Top Gun: Maverick” on May 19 at London’s Leicester Square.

William, who is said to be a big fan of the 1986 original, was reportedly treated to a private screening of the sequel at the invitation of Cruise before the event. A spokesperson for the royal, as well as the American actor, didn’t immediately respond to Fox News Digital’s request for comment.

William, 39, who was a Royal Air Force helicopter pilot, will be introduced alongside his wife, 40, to other cast members of the film, as well as studio executives, representatives from The Film and TV Charity, as well as director Joe Kosinski.

Cruise, 59, is no stranger to the British royal family. He met William’s grandfather, Prince Philip, in 2017 during a dinner commemorating the 75th anniversary of The Outward Bound Trust at Buckingham Palace. He previously met William’s mother, Princess Diana, with his then-wife Nicole Kidman in 1992 during the premiere of the film “Far and Away.” He later attended Diana’s funeral in 1997 with Kidman, 54.

On Sunday, the Hollywood star will co-host a televised event celebrating Queen Elizabeth’s 70-year reign at the Royal Windsor Horse Show titled “A Gallop through History.” It highlights a special appearance by the queen’s great-grandchildren.

Middleton is expected to stir headlines during the special movie night. Last September, the mother of three made jaws drop when she wore an all-gold ensemble for the James Bond premiere.

The charity provided support during the coronavirus pandemic when many in the industry lost their livelihoods.

Prince William and Kate Middleton to lead Queen Elizabeth’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations

NEWYou can now listen to Fox News articles!

Prince William and Kate Middleton will lead Queen Elizabeth’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations across the U.K.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge will be the most senior members of the British royal family heading out of London during the celebratory weekend next month, the palace announced.

The prince and his wife will head to Wales, where they lived for a few years when they first married more than a decade ago. Princess Anne will go to Scotland while Prince Edward and his wife, Sophie, Countess of Wessex, will visit Northern Ireland.

“Over the course of the Central Weekend, members of the Royal Family will visit the nations of the United Kingdom to celebrate the Platinum Jubilee,” the palace announced in a statement. “Members of the Royal Family will attend engagements in each nation, including public events marking the occasion.”

Previously, the queen and her late husband, Prince Philip would visit many places across the U.K. together. The Duke of Edinburgh passed away in April 2021 at age 99. The reigning monarch, 96, has been mainly confined at Windsor Castle.

Specific details about the upcoming visits are expected to be announced closer to early June. The main celebration will kick off on June 2 with the traditional parade Trooping the Colour, which also marks the queen’s official birthday each year.

On Friday, it was revealed that Prince Harry and his wife Meghan Markle will travel to the U.K. next month for the festivities. However, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex won’t be appearing on the Buckingham Palace balcony alongside the senior members of the royal family. A palace spokesperson confirmed that the couple won’t be part of the lineup because they’re not working members.

“Prince Harry and Meghan, The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are excited and honored to attend The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations this June with their children,” a spokesperson for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex announced.

The queen’s son, Prince Andrew, also won’t appear on the balcony. The Duke of York is no longer a working royal following his controversial association with late convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.

“After careful consideration, the Queen has decided that this year’s traditional Trooping the Colour balcony appearance on Thursday 2nd of June will be limited to Her Majesty and those members of the Royal Family who are currently undertaking official public duties on behalf of the Queen,” said a Buckingham Palace spokesman.

The royals expected to appear on the balcony include Prince Charles, Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, William, Middleton, as well as their three children – Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis.

Also in attendance will be Princess Anne, her husband, her brother Prince Edward, Sophie, Countess of Wessex, their two children, and the queen’s cousins, the Duke of Kent, the Duke and Duchess of Gloucester, and Princess Alexandra.

The celebration will feature a new documentary that includes never-before-seen home movies of the queen. The home movies, mostly shot by members of the royal family, date back to the ‘20s. The footage has been kept private for decades by the British Film Institute on behalf of the Royal Collection Trust.

The documentary will air on BBC May 29.

Prince William had a panic button installed in Kate Middleton’s apartment when they dated, book claims

NEWYou can now listen to Fox News articles!

Prince William had a panic button connected to local police that was installed in Kate Middleton’s apartment during the early days of their relationship.

The claim was made by former Vanity Fair Tina Brown, who recently wrote a bombshell book about the royals titled “The Palace Papers: Inside the House of Windsor – the Truth and the Turmoil.” It explores “the scandals, love affairs, power plays and betrayals” that have rocked the royals during the last 20 years and features new revelations based on Brown’s access to palace insiders.

The bestselling author previously wrote a biography on the Princess of Wales titled “The Diana Chronicles,” which was published in 2007. For her latest book, Brown said she spoke to more than 120 sources who were close to senior members of the royal family.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge met in 2001 as students at the University of St Andrews in Scotland. William told The Telegraph they were friends for over a year before a relationship blossomed. While the tabloids reported that the couple called it quits in 2007, they had reportedly gotten back together later that year.

According to Brown, Middleton wasn’t entitled to official protection from the palace during their courtship.

“William reportedly arranged for a panic button to the local police station to be installed in her apartment to protect her from the constant threats of intrusion,” Brown wrote.

She also shared that Middleton would sometimes receive assistance from Prince Charles’ former communications director, Paddy Harverson.

Working senior members of the royal family and their spouses are entitled to publicly-funded police protection. Middleton didn’t become entitled to police protection until she married the prince.

William proposed to Middleton in 2010 during their vacation to Kenya. The couple tied the knot in 2011. They share three children.

William’s younger brother, Prince Harry, had a whirlwind romance with Meghan Markle, a former American actress. They met in 2016 on a blind date and the relationship was said to have gone from “0 to 60.” In 2017, the prince proposed, and the couple said “I do” in 2018.

Brown alleged that Harry wanted to marry the former “Suits” star “as quickly as possible” because he wanted her to have police protection.

Brown told Page Six that unlike Markle, Middleton, 40, was better prepared to handle the pressures of royal life.

“If for any reason, she thought like Meghan, ‘I’m out of here, I can do much better,’ it would be a disaster,” Brown explained. “It would, I think, crumble at the moment without her because she’s the only modern, beautiful woman who’s well-educated, substantial in herself, who’s actually wanting to commit herself to the rigors of this institution. Not many young women could do that.”

Brown clarified that the term “Megxit,” which was created by the press to describe the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s departure from royal life, is incorrect. She argued that it was Harry, 37, not Markle, 40, who suggested they should make their exit.

“I do think it’s wrongly called Megxit,” said Brown. “He wanted out and she enabled him to do what he wanted. She was strong enough to say, ‘You know what? You want out. I can make it happen.’ He’s shown ever since that he absolutely hates that whole life, doesn’t like it.”

“If not but for Meghan, he wouldn’t have found a way out because he basically was a man who had everything done for him all of his life,” Brown continued. “He had never carved a life for himself. Meghan was very much a self-starter, a self-made successful woman. She knew who to call at Netflix. He wasn’t worldly like Meghan was worldly. They wanted to be global. If you want to be a global humanitarian superstar it’s going to take cash and that’s not going to be the same kind of money where you can live comfortably in Norfolk.”

A palace spokesperson didn’t immediately respond to Fox News Digital’s request for comment concerning Brown’s book. However, a spokesperson previously told Fox News Digital that the palace doesn’t generally comment “on such books.” A spokesperson for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex also didn’t immediately reply to Fox News Digital’s request for comment.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s departures from royal duties began in 2020 over what they described as the British media’s intrusions and racist attitudes toward Markle. The family now resides in the coastal city of Montecito, California, with their two children.

In the wake of quitting royal duties, they gave an explosive TV interview to Oprah Winfrey in which the couple described painful comments about how dark Archie’s skin might be before his birth. The duchess talked about the intense isolation she felt inside the royal family that led her to contemplate suicide.

Buckingham Palace said the allegations of racism made by the couple were “concerning” and would be addressed privately.

Prince William, Kate Middleton dodge question about Prince Harry wanting to protect Queen Elizabeth

NEWYou can now listen to Fox News articles!

Prince William and his wife Kate Middleton dodged a question about Prince Harry’s claim that he’s ensuring Queen Elizabeth II is “protected” and has the “right people around her.”

On Thursday, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge visited the headquarters of the Disaster Emergency Committee in London to learn more about their work supporting the people of Ukraine amid Russia’s invasion.

As the couple was stepping into a car following their visit, a broadcaster shouted to William, “Sir, does the queen need protecting?”

The couple didn’t respond and instead, continued into the vehicle before being driven away.

The moment was reminiscent of when William became the first British royal to defend the royal family after Harry and his wife, Meghan Markle, made allegations of racism during last year’s sit-down with Oprah Winfrey.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex specifically claimed there were “conversations and concerns” regarding the skin color of their then-unborn son. Harry, 37, later clarified that the queen and Prince Philip were not the royals who made such comments, leaving many to wonder.

Shortly after the interview aired, William, 39, was confronted by reporters during a visit to an East London School where he assured the public that the royal family is “very much not a racist family.” The prince also noted that hadn’t spoken to Harry after the interview but planned to do so.

The royal family has instead chosen to focus on the queen’s 96th birthday on Thursday. Tributes have poured in on social media, including from William and Middleton, 40.

Harry, who is currently in the Netherlands for the Invictus Games, opened up about his life in America, as well as his recent surprise visit with the queen to NBC’s “Today” show.

The interview, which aired on Wednesday, was targeted by British outlets, which immediately reacted to comments made by the 37-year-old ahead of the queen’s birthday.

“Being with her, it was great,” Harry told TV host Hoda Kotb. “It was just so nice to see her… She’s on great form. I’m just making sure that she’s, you know, protected and got the right people around her. You know, home – home for me, now is, you know, for the time being, is in the States.”

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex visited the U.K. briefly last week and spent time with Elizabeth before heading to the Netherlands for the Invictus Games.

During the televised interview, Harry was asked whether he missed his family, specifically his older brother and their father, Prince Charles.

“For me, in the moment, I am here to focus on these guys and these families,” Harry responded, referencing the Invictus Games. Harry is the founder and patron of the international sports competition for wounded military veterans.

Rumors of an alleged royal feud came to light in 2019, when royal author Katie Nicholl claimed that since Markle and Harry announced their engagement in 2017, William, 39, grew increasingly worried about his brother and his whirlwind romance with the American actress.

Harry said he wanted to return to the U.K. with his kids for the queen’s upcoming platinum jubilee, but warned that “security issues” could get in the way.

“I don’t know yet. There’s a lot of things, with security issues and everything else,” Harry said, adding he was “trying to make it possible that I can get my kids to meet [the queen].”

Harry is suing the British government for refusing to let him pay for his own police security on his visits to the U.K. Harry’s lawyers said the prince wants to bring his children to visit his home country but that it is too risky without police protection.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex stepped down as senior working royals and moved to Santa Barbara, California, in 2020, citing the unbearable pressure of their roles and the racist attitudes of the British media.

“We’ve been welcomed with open arms,” said Harry about life in America. “I mean, it’s got such a great community up in Santa Barbara.”

Harry has made solo trips to the U.K. to attend the funeral of his grandfather in April 2021 and to unveil a statue of his late mother Princess Diana last July.

Harry noted that he found himself thinking of his late mother even more. Diana passed away in 1997 at age 36 from injuries she sustained in a Paris car crash. At the time, she was being chased by the paparazzi.

“I feel her presence in almost everything that I do now,” said Harry. “But definitely more so in the last two years more than ever before, without question. So she’s watching over us.”

NEWYou can now listen to Fox News articles!

Queen Elizabeth II turns 96 on Thursday, and her son Prince Charles and grandson Prince William, along with their spouses, are leading the royal tributes for the reigning monarch.

“Wishing Her Majesty The Queen a very happy 96th birthday today! An inspiration to so many across the UK, the Commonwealth and the world, it’s particularly special to be celebrating in this #PlatinumJubilee year,” Prince William and Kate Middleton wrote on Twitter.

Prince Charles and his wife Camilla, the Duchess of Cornwall, also marked the queen’s special day with a series of photographs of the queen over the years.

QUEEN ELIZABETH II PRIVATELY MARKS HER 96TH BIRTHDAY, GETS OWN BARBIE DOLL FOR PLATINUM JUBILEE

“Wishing Her Majesty The Queen a particularly special 96th birthday today, as we celebrate her Platinum Jubilee year,” the Prince of Wales and duchess’ tweet reads.

The official Twitter account for the royal family also shared a photograph of the queen at the age of 2.

“Then, in 1928, it was never expected she would be Queen, and this year Her Majesty is celebrating her #PlatinumJubilee – a first in British history,” the tweet reads.

The queen is said to be marking her 96th year in private on Thursday at the Sandringham estate in eastern England, which Elizabeth often retreated to with her late husband Prince Philip, who died in April 2021.

QUEEN ELIZABETH POSES WITH HER PONIES AHEAD OF 96TH BIRTHDAY

Elizabeth is expected to spend the day at the estate’s Wood Farm cottage, a personal sanctuary where she also spent her first Christmas since Philip’s death. Philip loved the cottage, in part because it is close to the sea, she said in February when hosting a rare public event at Sandringham.

This birthday comes during the queen’s platinum jubilee year, marking her 70 years on the throne. While Thursday will be low-key, public celebrations will take place June 2-5, when four days of jubilee festivities have been scheduled to coincide with the monarch’s official birthday.

In a televised interview that aired this week, Prince Harry opened up about his grandmother and her significant milestone.

Harry touched on reports that he wants to return to his homeland in June for his grandmother’s platinum jubilee celebrations, but briefly cited ongoing security concerns that could come in the way of that.

“I don’t know. There’s lots of things right now, security issues, and everything else, so this is what I’m trying to do. I’m trying to make it possible so I can get my kids to meet her,” Harry shared.

While Harry joked that his grandmother may be getting “bored of her birthdays,” he shared what he feels is the best thing about the reigning monarch.

“Her sense of humor and her ability to see the humor in so many different things. We have a really special relationship. We talk about things that she can’t talk about with anybody else,” the 37-year-old said.

Prince Charles, Camilla announce new royal tour amid Prince William, Kate Middleton’s tense Caribbean visit

NEWYou can now listen to Fox News articles!

Prince Charles and Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, are hitting the road.

Clarence House, the office for the Prince of Wales, announced on Monday that the couple will visit Canada in May in honor of Queen Elizabeth II’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations.

The news came shortly after Prince William and Kate Middleton completed their controversial Caribbean tour.

During the upcoming three-day tour, the prince and the duchess, who celebrated their 17th anniversary over the weekend, will meet with local communities throughout Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada’s Capital Region, as well as the Northwest Territories.

The trip will be the 19th visit for Charles, 73, and the fifth for Camilla, 74. Their last visit was in the summer of 2017.

Charles’ sister, Princess Anne, is currently on a three-day tour of Australia, which is also in honor of their mother’s 70th year on the throne.

The office of Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced that he and his wife are looking forward to “showing them some of the many reasons why we take pride in being Canadian.”

Trudeau, 50, also noted that the tour will be “an opportunity for their royal highnesses to take part in various initiatives to honor the queen’s service and dedication to our country, and meet with inspiring Canadians who are making a difference in our communities.”

William and Middleton’s eight-day tour of Belize, Jamaica and the Bahamas, which occurred in March, was criticized as being “tone-deaf” for perpetuating images of Britain’s colonial rule. Jamaican Prime Minister Andrew Holness told the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge that his country intended to become a republic, removing the British monarch as its head of state.

Before their tour came to an end, William released an unprecedented statement reflecting on the future governance of the Caribbean nations. The 39-year-old is second in line to the British throne after his father Charles.

The royal couple was greeted by protesters demanding an apology for the role Britain played in the enslavement of millions of Africans and reparations for the damage caused by slavery. During a speech in Jamaica, William expressed his “profound sorrow” for slavery but stopped short of offering an apology.

William recognized the changing nature of the connections between Britain and its former colonies during a speech in Nassau, the capital of the Bahamas.

“We support with pride and respect your decisions about your future,” William said. “Relationships evolve. Friendship endures.”

Whatever the former colonies decide about their continuing relationship with the crown, William said he wanted to continue serving them through the Commonwealth, a voluntary association of 54 countries with historical links to Britain. The queen has been head of the Commonwealth throughout her reign. Charles is her designated successor.

The couple’s trip to Belize also suffered a hitch when a planned visit to a cacao farm in Belize was scrapped because of local opposition.

According to local reports, a protest was staged opposing the royal visit to Akte ’il Ha cacao farm in Indian Creek village in the foothills of the Maya Mountains. Belize news outlet Channel 7 reported that there is a dispute between village residents and Flora and Fauna International, a conservation charity William supports as a patron.

A spokesperson from Kensington Palace told Fox News Digital that “due to sensitive issues involving the community in Indian Creek, the visit has been moved to a different location.”

In November, Charles denounced the “atrocity of slavery” and Britain’s legacy of the slave trade as Barbados removed his mother, the queen, as head of state.

Prince William, Kate Middleton share sweet photo of Princess Charlotte

Kate Middleton and Prince William shared a sweet photo of their daughter Charlotte playing with a butterfly.

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge shared the photo as part of a media campaign to bring awareness to the #ButterflyCount initiative taking place around the United Kingdom.

“Butterfly Conservation are encouraging us all to count these incredible creatures because not only are they beautiful creatures to be around but they are also extremely important,” a statement from the couple said.

Charlotte turned six years old in May. She is the middle child in Middleton and William’s family.

“It’s a normal, busy family home with kids running around and knocking things over,” an insider told the outlet. “There’s no airs and graces. When you see her behind closed doors with the children, she’s a very confident mom, and she’s no pushover. The children get told off if they act up.”

Priyanka Chopra praised by Twitter users for allegedly snubbing Prince William, Kate Middleton at Wimbledon

Twitter users are praising Priyanka Chopra after she seemingly shaded Prince William and Kate Middleton at Wimbledon.

In a newly emerged clip shared by the U.K’s DailyMail on Wednesday, the actress appeared to ignore the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge as they took their seats to a roaring applause from the crowd for the Women’s Singles Final on Saturday.

Instead of joining in, the 38-year-old seemingly fiddled with her scarf. At one point, the wife of singer Nick Jonas appeared to look away as the couple mingled with those in attendance.

The alleged snub made its way to Twitter, where many believed the star was supporting her friend Meghan Markle. In March, the Duchess of Sussex, 39, told Oprah Winfrey that the Duchess of Cambridge, 39, made her cry days before she married William’s younger brother Prince Harry in May 2018.

Some pointed out that the clip is similar to the unearthed video footage from 2018 that showed William, 39, suddenly preoccupied with his own scarf while ignoring Markle, who attempted to speak with her brother-in-law. In that clip, the duke repeatedly fiddled with his attire, ignoring Markle altogether.

“She got him!” one person tweeted about Chopra. “The revenge of a BFF.”

“It’s Priyanka Chopra not applauding to the Prince’s arrival for me,” chimed another.

“I love seeing #Desigirl #Priyanka Chopra not clapping for the other brother, as she’s having her very own scarf moment,” tweeted one user. “That’s my girl!”

A rep for Chopra didn’t immediately respond to Fox News’ request for comment.

On Monday, William was labeled a hypocrite by many Twitter users after he slammed the “racist abuse” some Black soccer players on England’s national team faced after losing to Italy in the Europe Championship game on Sunday while never publicly defending Markle.

The former “Suits” star, who is biracial, faced racism in the U.K. while working as a member of the British royal family.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s departures from royal duties began in 2020 over what they described as the British media’s intrusions and racist attitudes towards the former American actress.

In the wake of quitting royal duties, they gave an explosive TV interview to Winfrey, 67, in which the couple described painful comments about how dark their son Archie’s skin might be before his birth in 2019. The duchess talked about the intense isolation she felt inside the royal family that led her to contemplate suicide.

Harry, 36, later confirmed that the royal in question who made the heartbreaking comments about his son wasn’t Queen Elizabeth II or Prince Philip.

Buckingham Palace said the allegations of racism made by the couple were “concerning” and would be addressed privately. William also assured reporters that “we are very much not a racist family.”

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex currently reside in Montecito, Calif.

On June 4, the couple welcomed their second child, a daughter named Lilibet “Lili” Diana Mountbatten-Windsor. The child is eighth in line to the British throne.

The name pays tribute to both Harry’s grandmother the queen, whose family nickname is Lilibet, and his late mother, Princess Diana.
