Delaware bill would allow youth sex changes, abortions without parental OK, pro-family group warns

NEWYou can now listen to Fox News articles!

A bill sponsored by more than a dozen Delaware State House Democrats would allow youth to elect to undergo sex changes and abortion procedures without the knowledge of their parent or guardian, a pro-family think tank warned Wednesday.

House Bill 400, currently under review would rectify what the sponsors call the “imped[iment]” of “insured dependents and other insured members to receive confidential sensitive health care services without the knowledge of the insured policyholder.”

“The lack of confidentiality for sensitive health care services can often result in insured members simply avoiding necessary health care,” the bill’s synopsis states.

On “Tucker Carlson Tonight,” host Tucker Carlson discussed with American Principles Project president Terry Schilling how the bill would reportedly allow the aforementioned surgeries to be done in secret.

“If there was ever an effort to destroy the nuclear family this obvious, we’re not aware of what it might be,” Carlson told Schilling.

Schilling said his group is building the “NRA for families” to push back against such legislation, alluding to the strength of the pro-Second Amendment group from Fairfax, Va.

“Ultimately, this is going to be about parents taking back control of their kids education directly. We have to make these people pay a political price when they hurt our families,” he said.

Schilling warned the bill is another step in the national Democratic mission to “abolish” the nuclear family, noting leftists often couch that trend as “liberating children from parental constraints… and oppression.”

“It’ll destroy the country; will destroy the economy,” he said.

Carlson added that much of the social justice movement on the Democratic left is symptomatic of people who collectively “hate their fathers.”

“That’s the basis of their politics – but that does not give them a right to mess with our kids.”

Schilling added that the left knows children are naturally vulnerable to ideas and ideologies, saying leftists in Dover and elsewhere have created an “ecosystem” of indoctrinate progressivism.

Children who might independently elect to have gender reassignment surgery or an abortion are ones who traditionally also believe in Santa Claus, he added.

Carlson later added that that idea is exactly why millions of American parents have withdrawn their children from public schools over the past few years, electing for alternate education.

Schweizer calls for Hunter Biden independent counsel, says Garland can otherwise ‘direct’ DE prosecutor

NEWYou can now listen to Fox News articles!

Author and investigative journalist Peter Schweizer called for an independent counsel to be appointed in Hunter Biden’s federal probe being litigated in Delaware.

Schweizer warned that U.S. Attorney for Delaware David Weiss, a Trump appointee, can ultimately be “directed” in certain ways by Attorney General Merrick Garland.

“This is a tailor-made case for an independent counsel,” he told former Reagan Justice Department chief of staff Mark Levin on “Life, Liberty & Levin.”

“It’s an investigation involving the family of the president. The attorney general is, of course, appointed by the president. And he’s the one who’s going to direct this U.S. attorney that has this grand jury in Delaware — so you need an independent counsel.”

EX-HUNTER BUSINESS PARTNER SAYS JOE BIDEN’S DENIALS ‘A BLATANT LIE’

Schweizer added that if it was clear the investigation stopped at the behavior of the younger Biden, there would be no such concern. But, because of reportage on Hunter Biden’s laptop and alleged evidence he collected funds from U.S. overseas rivals like China, it is clear-cut that an independent counsel be named.

“There is lots of evidence … some of that money ended up with Joe Biden,” he said. “The money was fungible. It moved around. It went to James Biden and others.”

FLASHBACK: JIM BIDEN REFUSES FOX NEWS’ QUESTIONS

Schweizer said part of the blame for the lack of a special prosecutor lies with the White House, but surmised Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell might not favor such an appointment because of his own family’s overseas business ties.

McConnell’s reported connections, through the shipping firm owned by relatives of his wife Elaine, are “more legitimate” than that of Hunter and Joe Biden’s alleged connections, Schweizer clarified, adding he believes the senator probably doesn’t want the topic discussed.

    Peter Schweizer

“This is not a subject he wants to have a national conversation about: the efforts by Beijing to curry favor with American political figures and their families by giving them sweetheart deals,” he said.

Schweizer also warned that without an independent prosecutor, if Hunter Biden is indicted and settles, the information therein could legally remain hidden from the American people — while a counsel would have to produce a public report.

Biden to give commencement speech at University of Delaware next month

NEWYou can now listen to Fox News articles!

President Biden is set to give the commencement speech next month at his alma mater, the University of Delaware.

“The entire University of Delaware community is truly honored to welcome President Biden as our distinguished guest — and the first sitting U.S. president to deliver a Commencement address at UD — to celebrate the excellence and achievement of the Class of 2022,” University of Delaware President Dennis Assanis said Tuesday.

It will be the fifth time that Biden has given a commencement speech at his alma mater after most recently attending the school’s graduation in 2014 as vice president.

“You are citizens of a nation that is better positioned than any country in the world to lead the 21st century, economically, politically and socially,” Biden told graduates eight years ago.

Biden has a home outside Wilmington, Delaware, and has visited dozens of times since being president.

“His commitment to a lifetime of public service is an inspiring example for our graduates, as well as all our students and alumni, of what they can accomplish with a UD education, whatever path they may choose in life,” Assanis said Tuesday.

Republican senator recounts Ukraine visit: ‘Images nobody should have to see in their lifetime’

NEWYou can now listen to Fox News articles!

Montana Republican Sen. Steve Daines told Fox News on Monday that his recent trip to Ukraine was horrifying but important, in that it was key for a U.S. official to be on the ground.

Daines said his visit revealed the brutality of Putin’s troops, and that some of the worst scenes were in Bucha, about 20 miles outside Kyiv.

“These are images that nobody should ever have to see in their lifetime… You could see the brutality of the Russians leveling these residential [areas]; This is where [civilians] were just living their lives, and then they were brutally murdered by the Russians,” he said.

Shallow mass graves were prevalent in Bucha, he said, recounting witnessing Ukrainian coroners exhuming bodies to determine particular causes of death.

“They opened [one] bag up. They asked me to take a glimpse. [With a] brief look at I could see a bullet wound in the back of the head of a man. I saw the body of a woman in one of the bags. It is brutal. These are war crimes and it was very important,” he said.

Daines referenced the fact United Kingdom Prime Minister Boris Johnson and several other world leaders or top officials have been to Ukraine in recent weeks – pointing out a “noticeable absence” from the United States.

That, he said, is why it is important he went.

Grassley blasts media over ‘Russian disinfo’ smears: Hunter’s case shows I was ‘right all along’

NEWYou can now listen to Fox News articles!

Senate Judiciary Committee member Chuck Grassley ripped Democrats and the media for framing him as a font of “Russian disinformation” for the two-plus years he has been speaking out about allegations against Hunter Biden.

Grassley, R-Iowa, told Fox News on Monday he does not have enough information that President Biden is “compromised” by China.

“I only have enough evidence that that’s a legitimate question. I do not have evidence that goes as far as you’d like to have me say go,” he told “Jesse Watters Primetime.”

“What we do know is that Hunter Biden had arrangements with Chinese businesspeople [via] CFC Corporation. It’s an energy company. Those Chinese businesspeople had connections to the military and the Chinese Communist Party. And we know that they received $5 million,” he continued.

In terms of U.S. interests being “compromised,” Grassley said the laptop and related texts do question whether American national security could be adversely affected.

He expressed regret Democrats and media had spent since 2019 claiming he and others on the GOP side were spreading foreign fallacies.

“For two-and-a-half years, the Democrats were saying I was spreading Russian disinformation. Then we find out that the Democrats and the media were playing this Russian disinformation campaign against us. And then now, they’re finally admitting that Chuck Grassley was right all along,” he said.

Gingrich: The ‘Rip Van Winkle’ presidency of Biden is embarrassing DC’s elite

NEWYou can now listen to Fox News articles!

Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich told Fox News it is clear the establishment is embarrassed by President Biden, who almost seems like he’s “already retired.”

After Politico published an article bemoaning the “boredom” of the Biden presidency and his frequent eschewing of Washington for Delaware, Gingrich surmised the media and D.C. social scene doesn’t find Biden boring, as stated, but rather embarrassing, especially in public appearances.

    President Biden.

“It’s an embarrassment to watch him in Warsaw blurt out things that … the State Department has to rush out and say aren’t true,” he said. “It’s embarrassing to watch his vice president. It’s embarrassing to realize that if you watched him hanging out with Barack Obama looking like he was the grandfather who’d been invited to the Thanksgiving dinner and everybody was ignoring him.”

“Not only are his policies terrible and destructive, and people are suffering from gasoline prices and food prices, from the border — but in addition, you have a president who you’re not sure is completely there.”

Newt Gingrich (Paul Morigi/Getty Images for Dentons)

Gingrich told “Jesse Watters Primetime” it is “frightening” to see that same man being the one tasked to deal with nefarious characters like Vladimir Putin — as the United States’ leader is “doddering around looking like he’s out of it.”

“It’s a little bit like having Rip Van Winkle as president. You sort of think he’s probably asleep most of the time. You assume that somebody like [Ron] Klain is actually in charge if anybody’s in charge,” he said, referring to Biden’s chief of staff and longtime confidant.

Biden seems less interested in being the leader of the free world than he does counting down to trips back to Delaware “to eat ice cream and ride his bicycle,” Gingrich said.

“It’s a little bit like watching somebody who’s already retired, but they make him show up and pretend to be working,” he said.

Bidens honor the Navy’s newest submarine at ceremony for USS Delaware

NEWYou can now listen to Fox News articles!

President Biden and first lady Jill Biden celebrated the formal commissioning of the USS Delaware, the U.S. Navy’s newest fast attack submarine, at a ceremony Saturday in the Bidens’ home state of Delaware.

“The state of Delaware has loved the Bidens and cheered for us in most of our triumphant moments,” Jill Biden said at the Port of Wilmington ceremony. “It has carried us through the darkest times in our lives with the kindness that asks for nothing in return. Delaware is family.”

“My name is Joe Biden. I am Jill’s husband,” the president said.

He paid tribute to his wife’s long-standing commitment to the military and thanked those who brought the warship to life.

“As your commander in chief, I believe, it is our sacred obligation as a nation to prepare and equip those troops that we send into harm’s way and to care for them and their families when they return home,” Biden said.

“This is one hell of a fighting machine. To our adversaries, let me just say this: Don’t mess with the USS Delaware,” Sen. Tom Carper, D-Del., said at the ceremony.

First lady Biden, the daughter of a U.S. Navy signalman during World War II and a champion of military families, is the official sponsor of the U.S. Navy warship, an honor given by the secretary of the Navy. Wilmington computer shop owner speaks out after latest Hunter Biden laptop developments

NEWYou can now listen to Fox News articles!

The owner of the Wilmington computer store that serviced Hunter Biden’s laptop before turning it over to authorities spoke out Friday after several mainstream media outlets verified the contents of the laptop.

John Paul Mac Isaac, the owner of what was “The Mac Shop” in Trolley Square, told Fox News his life was turned upside down after the public found out he had given the contents of the laptop to the FBI and former New York City Mayor Rudolph Giuliani.

“Once the story was out and my name was leaked to the public, it had been a matter of at first running and hiding. Now it’s trying to just rebuild my life and then do it in a manner that’s not restricted by public opinion of me being involved in some Russian disinformation campaign,” he said.

At first, there was minimal effect on his business, Mac Isaac told “Hannity,” adding eventually customers began to wonder why there was law enforcement in and around the shop.

Mac Isaac previously told the New York Post that Wilmington authorities kept watch outside the shop for his own safety at one point.

“[T]hey didn’t understand the police presence or why there were feces and rotten vegetables thrown at the shop. So eventually it got out and people stopped coming in for service,” he said.

Delaware declares COVID-19 state of emergency as Biden spends time at home

NEWYou can now listen to Fox News articles!

Delaware will enter a state of emergency due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic as President Biden and first lady Jill Biden continue their time at home in the coastal state.

Delaware Gov. John Carney released a statement Thursday that Delaware would be entering a state of emergency effective Monday. The governor plans to activate resources from the National Guard for help covering staffing shortages at medical centers and “combat the winter surge of COVID-19 cases and hospitalizations.”

“Members of our Guard and frontline health care workers continue to step up time and time again. We need all Delawareans and Delaware businesses to step up and help us get through this winter surge,” wrote Carney. “At the State level, we are focused on reducing the strain on our hospitals this winter, and getting even more Delawareans vaccinated.”

The governor explained in the statement that his administration is working to “enable members of the Delaware National Guard to work as certified nursing assistants (CNAs) in skilled nursing facilities to care for patients currently in Delaware hospitals. Approximately 100 members of the Delaware National Guard are currently being trained to become CNAs.”

Carney concluded with a thank you for those working in health care and a call for everyone in the state to get vaccinated and boosted.

“I especially want to thank all of Delaware’s health care workers who continue to work on the front lines of this crisis. The best thing we can do to support them is to remain vigilant – and do what works,” Carney wrote. “After two years of this pandemic, we all know what to do. Mask up in public places to protect yourself and vulnerable family members. Get your vaccine. And get a booster if you’re eligible. That’s the best way to prevent serious illness and hospitalization.”

The Bidens are currently at home in Wilmington.

Biden has been called out several times for sending mixed signals on wearing masks. Biden received criticism for shopping at Murray’s Toggery Shop on the island of Nantucket last month without a mask, despite a sign on the front door saying, “Required face covering.”

Biden received mockery online Tuesday evening into Wednesday morning after a clip posted on Twitter showed him wearing a mask while walking outside on a Delaware beach with his wife and their dog Commander.

Footage captured by C-SPAN shows Biden, who is fully vaccinated with a booster shot, wearing a mask outside during a stroll on Rehoboth Beach with few people around them. The first lady, who is also fully vaccinated, was not wearing a mask.

Biden expected to spend weekend in Delaware, away from White House amid Afghanistan crisis

President Biden is once again scheduled to head home to Delaware Saturday, as thousands of Americans and Afghan allies remain stranded in Afghanistan following the Taliban’s takeover last weekend.

The White House announced that Biden would leave for Wilmington around midday following a meeting with his national security team to get updated on the situation. Vice President Kamala Harris, who was traveling to Southeast Asia, is expected to attend virtually.

As of late Friday evening, Biden had no public events scheduled for Saturday or Sunday.

The president was originally set to take a long weekend with an early afternoon departure from the White House on Friday. But the White House said he changed his mind.

He gave an address on the status of the chaotic evacuations from Hamid Karzai International Airport outside Kabul on Friday afternoon.

VICTOR DAVIS HANSON: IF BIDEN WERE A REPUBLICAN, DEMS IN CONGRESS WOULD HAVE IMPEACHED HIM. THEY SHOULD

Later, Biden spoke by phone to Italian Prime Minister Mario Draghi and Qatar Emir Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani from the Executive Mansion.

Biden’s trip on Saturday would be his 19th to his home state since taking office on Jan. 20.

The president faced intense backlash for being at Camp David in Maryland last weekend as the Taliban rapidly swept through Afghanistan, taking the capital of Kabul on Sunday.

He curtailed his trip and returned to the White House to address the nation on Monday, admitting that “this did unfold more quickly than we had anticipated.

Biden’s weekend plans had been the subject of confusion since the Federal Aviation Administration issued an airspace restriction for Wilmington effective Thursday night. White House issued an initial schedule for Friday that included an early afternoon departure from Washington.

Then, shortly before noon Friday, the White House confirmed that Biden would remain in the nation’s capital that night following his address, but left open whether he would head to Delaware later in the weekend.

In his remarks from the East Room of the White House, Biden insisted that Taliban fighters were letting Americans pass through checkpoints on their way to the airport — a statement that was later contradicted by reporters on the ground in Kabul as well as Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin, who admitted on a call with lawmakers that the Islamic fundamentalists were beating American citizens who attempted to get through the checkpoints.

The president also claimed that al Qaeda was “gone” from Afghanistan, thus satisfying the mission of the U.S.-led NATO force that invaded the country in fall 2001. However, a day earlier, Pentagon press secretary John Kirby admitted that “we know that al Qaeda is a presence, as well as ISIS, in Afghanistan and we’ve talked about that for quite some time.”

Biden added Friday that 13,000 people had been flown out of Afghanistan on U.S. military aircraft since Saturday, and thousands more had been evacuated on private charter flights.

Though the president estimated earlier this week that up to 15,000 Americans remain in Afghanistan, along with up to 65,000 Afghans and families of Afghans who worked with U.S. forces during the war, administration officials have acknowledged that they do not have an exact count of how many evacuees remain.
