Nets’ Kyrie Irving talks trolls, drugs, racism and OnlyFans during strange rant on Twitch

NEWYou can now listen to Fox News articles!

Nets star Kyrie Irving appears to have plenty of time on his hands after Brooklyn was swept by the Boston Celtics in the first round of the NBA playoffs last month.

This week, Irving spent some of that free time streaming himself playing video games on Twitch, but things apparently got heated Monday.

Irving went off on a bizarre rant while playing the game Grand Theft Auto, in which he mocked trolls and covered a myriad of topics, including drugs, racism and OnlyFans.

The rant started as Irving appeared to get frustrated with his online critics, who he accused of repeating the “same jokes.”

Twitch has a chat function, which allows people to comment as they watch his stream. The person who streams the video (Irving in this case) can then see the comments that people post in his chat.

“‘Ooh Kyrie, what are you doing at home?’ That’s how y’all sound to me. ‘What are you doing at home? Are you going to Cancun? Where are you? Are you at home? Oh, Kyrie, you suck,'” Irving said, using a fake voice to mock those in his chat. “‘What are you doing? Oh my god. Go back to Cleveland. Oh my god. Boston hates you. Oh my god.’ That’s how y’all sound to me. Cockroaches.”

Irving later used the fake voice again to mock those in chat, after some people suggested he was on drugs.

    WARNING: GRAPHIC LANGUAGE

“‘Oh my god, Kyrie, he has to be on something,'” the point guard said. “You know how many comments I see like that? Like, ‘Oh my god, he’s definitely on one, man. I don’t know what’s up with him, bro. He’s on drugs, man.’ Shut the f— up. Shut the f— up. Shut up, bro.”

“I hear it so often, and that has even a racist undertone to it. ‘He has to be on drugs. This woke Black guy has to be on drugs,'” Irving added. “Shut the f— up… I haven’t smoked not one thing. I haven’t taken not one drug.”

KYRIE IRVING’S ABSENCE FROM NETS ‘WAS DIFFICULT FOR US TO MANAGE,’ EX-ASSISTANT COACH SAYS

“That’s the prototypical response that you hear from someone that’s living a life in a shell, that don’t know s— what’s going on,” he continued. “Especially when you talk about what’s going on with racial prejudice and discrimination.”

Irving later got on the topic of OnlyFans when someone in chat asked if he had an account.

    WARNING: GRAPHIC LANGUAGE

“I have no problem with OnlyFans,” Irving said. “You won’t get my debit card though, I’ll tell you that. You won’t even get a free subscription from me. I’m sorry. I have no problem with it, don’t get me wrong, that’s not for me. It may be for you. You know what I mean? Keep the tissue papers off your god—- nightstand.”

Irving abruptly ended the steam about 30 seconds later.

Irving played 29 games for Brooklyn last season, averaging 27.4 points and 5.8 assists per game. He made his Nets 2021-22 season debut on Jan. 5 and was a big reason why Brooklyn was able to limp into the playoffs.

Irving had refused to get a coronavirus vaccine and was ruled out by the organization at the start of the season. He later returned to play away games before New York City dropped its mandate.

It’s unclear whether Irving will be back with the Nets at this point, though he said at his end-of-season press conference that he wanted to be back.

“I don’t plan on going anywhere. This is added motivation for our franchise to be at the top of the league the next few years. When I say I’m here with Kev, I think that really entails us managing this franchise together alongside [owner] Joe [Tsai] and Sean [Marks], and our group of family members that we have in our organization,” Irving said, via FOX Sports. “I think we need to make some moves this offseason and really be intentional about what we’re building and just really worry about us.”

Washington Post accused of activism for urging video game companies to take a stand on Roe v. Wade

NEWYou can now listen to Fox News articles!

The Washington Post is facing accusations of activism over a report urging video game companies to take a stand on Roe v. Wade as the Supreme Court mulls overturning the decades-long precedent protecting the legalization of abortions on a federal level.

On Wednesday, video game reporters Nathan Grayson and Shannon Liao penned a piece with the headline, “As Roe v. Wade repeal looms, video game industry stays mostly silent,” documenting how giants in the gaming world are largely staying out of the abortion debate.

The article began by citing Bungie, the “Destiny 2” studio owned by Sony that published a statement “in support of reproductive rights” that decried the overturning of Roe v. Wade among other studios and indie developers. The reporters appeared to side with the company as it faced viral backlash from critics, writing, “Bungie, for its part, stood firm.”

WASHINGTON POST MOCKED FOR OP-ED CALLING TO RENAME GEORGE WASHINGTON UNIVERSITY: ‘MAYBE RENAME THE PAPER?’

The Post called the silence from the industry’s heavy hitters “especially conspicuous” since they were largely outspoken in their support for Black Lives Matter following the murder of George Floyd in 2020 and anti-Asian hate during the COVID pandemic, noting, “In both of those cases, many big companies released statements, donated to charitable causes, updated internal policies and added in-game features to allow players to express their support.”

“The Washington Post contacted 20 major video game companies about whether they planned to make a statement regarding Roe’s potential repeal or provide employees with monetary aid in places where abortions would no longer be available. Only Microsoft and Activision Blizzard responded with statements,” the paper wrote.

Microsoft, the company behind the popular Xbox console, told the Post it will “continue to do everything we can under the law to protect our employees’ rights and support employees and their enrolled dependents in accessing critical health care — which already includes services like abortion and gender-affirming care — regardless of where they live across the U.S.,” adding, “This support is being extended to include travel expense assistance for these and other medical services where access to care is limited in availability in an employee’s home geographic region.”

“Activision Blizzard,” the giant behind “Call of Duty,” “World of Warcraft” and “Candy Crush,” similarly said to the paper, “As a company, providing fair and equitable health care is a top priority, and we will closely monitor developments in the coming weeks and months.”

WASHINGTON POST’S TAYLOR LORENZ DOXXES LIBS OF TIKTOK DAYS AFTER DECRYING ONLINE HARASSMENT OF WOMEN

The report highlighted what’s been called the “Mother’s Day strike,” a week-long protest from May 8-15 that urges participants to “stop working, shopping and eating out as a way to protest the possibility that Roe v. Wade could be overturned,” something several video game employees told the Post they were partaking.

“Not every game developer in support of abortion rights has been able to take the week off work to strike. One Blizzard employee told The Post that while she wanted to participate, she could not afford to. ‘I understand the thought behind it, but I am hard-pressed to think who can strike like that without having it be dire in terms of being able to live reasonably,'” The Post wrote adding, “Right now, game workers just want some semblance of stability with Roe v. Wade’s potential repeal threatening to rock their foundation. A commitment to reproductive health care from their employers, in their eyes, would at least be something.”

Grayson shared the report on Twitter, writing “NEW: @shannon_liao and I reached out to over 20 major video game companies about whether they intend to speak up in favor of reproductive rights or provide monetary aid to employees. just a few said yes. most said nothing at all.”

But he and the Post were blasted by critics, accusing them of activism.

“Washington Post wants to bully video game companies into taking a stance on abortion and provide $$ for employees to get abortions. This is activism journalism — and it’s disturbing,” radio host Jason Rantz slammed the paper.

“The liberal need to have every facet of society affirm all of their political beliefs is perhaps the most toxic force in American public life,” Free Beacon writer Drew Holden reacted.

WASHINGTON POST GIVES MAYORKAS THREE PINOCCHIOS FOR CLAIMING ILLEGAL MIGRANTS ARE ‘PROMPTLY REMOVED’

“Bullying people into political activism is what passes for journalism these days,” RealClearInvestigations senior writer Mark Hemingway wrote.

“In which activists masquerading as journalists call up companies and ask why Taylor Swift’s silence is so deafening,” The Daily Wire’s Ben Shapiro tweeted.

“This seems more like lobbying than journalism,” Daily Beast senior columnist Matt Lewis wrote.

“Activism, not journalism. WaPo in a nutshell,” Substack writer Andrew Sullivan similarly tweeted.

Others mocked the Post for pressing the video game industry to comment on abortion in the first place.

“Is the expectation that Mario should be the purveyor of your moral epistemology?” journalist Zaid Jilani asked.

“As Roe v Wade repeal looms, the toilet cleaning industry, most notably Scrubbing Bubbles, stays mostly silent.,” radio host Dana Loesch parodied the Post’s headline.

“Notably, my local bodega guy has not weighed in either. The silence is deafening,” Jezebel editor-in-chief Laura Bassett joked.

The Washington Post did not immediately respond to Fox News’ request for comment.

Kamala Harris reveals her Wordle strategy, but won’t share her squares any time soon

NEWYou can now listen to Fox News articles!

Vice President Kamala Harris gave an interview published Monday that focused exclusively on the game apps she plays on her phone.

Harris lamented how her Secret Service-approved phone does not allow her either to subscribe to more premium versions of the game apps, or to share her scores with others.

Harris devoted special attention during the interview with Ringer to explaining her strategy for playing Wordle, a popular daily five-letter word puzzle app, which she described as something she uses as a “brain cleanser” throughout the day.

Saying she always starts with the word “notes,” Harris said, “I think that you have to have a healthy mix of consonants and vowels, and a lot of words come with an S. For example, today there was an S and an E, I believe.”

“My normal is four,” Harris said regarding how many guesses it takes for her to solve the puzzle. “That’s my average.”

The vice president went on to explain how her “nighttime ritual” also includes playing the number game Sudoku, the mini New York Times crossword puzzle and the New York Times spelling bee, for which she said she never uses hints.

Harris said “it’s really annoying” that she can’t subscribe to better versions of the game apps because her government phone won’t let her, but noted “it may actually be for the best because I’d probably otherwise spend too much time at night not sleeping.”

She added that she and second gentleman Doug Emhoff are still able to share their scores with each other.

iPhones, Androids, tablets and more are the grimiest, germiest tech devices in your home — how to clean them

NEWYou can now listen to Fox News articles!

In today’s technology age, the devices we pick up, touch, use and place on a variety of surfaces throughout the day can get … totally gross.

A new survey from Asurion Tech Repair & Solutions, the world’s largest tech care solutions company, found that the average person picks up a cell phone an amazing 352 times per day.

And while 75% of people have admitted to bringing their phone into the bathroom with them (yes, you read that right!) — only 8% of people remember to sanitize their devices afterward.

SPRING CLEANING FOR FORGOTTEN SPACES: TIPS FOR TIDYING UP UNCONVENTIONAL SPOTS AT HOME

Now that you’ve just grabbed your disinfecting wipes, here’s a look at some of the grimiest devices in your home and how to clean them.

    iPhones and Androids

A vast majority of people use their phone while doing their business in the bathroom without even thinking of the germs festering on the surface, as noted above.

When you clean your cell phone, remember to remove protective cases from the device to get into the nooks and crannies — and give the case a good wipe-down, too.    (iStock)

For a device that’s used so frequently, it’s important to keep your smartphone clean by wiping it with a disinfectant wipe on nonporous surfaces, according to Apple.

Be sure to remove protective cases from the device to get into the nooks and crannies — and give the case a good wipe-down, too.

    Children’s tablets

All parents and grandparents know exactly how sticky, gunky and messy kids’ tablets can get.

While being careful not to damage the screen, be sure to wipe off any sticky residue with a disinfectant wipe instead of spraying a solution.

Then, use a microfiber towel to erase those little fingerprints.

DO YOU KNOW HOW TO DEEP CLEAN YOUR KEURIG?

The tablet’s case should also be removed and cleaned with a disinfectant wipe (beware of falling crumbs).

Charging ports, headphone jacks and earpiece speakers

Little crevices can be a challenge to clean, especially when makeup and earwax build-up is gross just to look at, Asurion noted in press materials connected to its survey.

Charging ports on smartphones, tablets and other devices can be blasted clean with a few short bursts of compressed air, which is also useful for freeing lunchtime crumbs from your laptop’s keyboard.

Device speakers can be cleaned with a soft bristled brush to improve sound quality.

Earpiece speakers can be detailed with a toothpick and wiped clean with rubbing alcohol on a cotton swab.

    Video game consoles and controllers

A video game console isn’t a place you’d normally think to clean out.

All those nights spent scrolling through Netflix warrant an inspection of your remote control’s sanitary state.

But aside from accumulating dust bunnies, gaming systems are prone to attracting cockroaches and other pests that seek out warm, dark places to nest, especially on the floor in a tight corner.

To avoid an invasion of creepy crawlers, place your gaming systems in a clear space with ample ventilation.

Asurion Experts recommend clearing the console’s vents with compressed air, a soft-bristled brush (toothbrush, paintbrush, etc.), a microfiber cloth and/or a vacuum with a handheld attachment.

For all those well-handled video game controllers, remember to comb out residue with a toothpick and spray with a rubbing alcohol-water mixture. (iStock)

Game controllers can get particularly grimy from being handled with sweaty, snack-time-grubby hands.

Get into the small cracks of those controllers and comb out residue with a toothpick.

Then, per guidance given to Fox News Digital by cleaning expert Brandon Pleshek, spray your controllers with a 50-50 rubbing alcohol-water mixture and wipe clean.

    Remote controls

All those nights spent scrolling through Netflix warrant an inspection of your remote control’s sanitary state.

Use rubbing alcohol on a soft cloth or cotton swab to sanitize the ridges and remote surface of your remote control — and let air dry.

First, remove the batteries and shake out any loose debris between buttons.

Then, use rubbing alcohol on a soft cloth or cotton swab to sanitize the ridges and remote surface and let air dry.

Couple speaks out after video game-themed wedding cake topper unexpectedly goes viral

Social media users branded a humorous wedding cake topper that highlighted a groom’s love for video games as offensive, but the couple behind the requested figurines say that’s not what they meant.

Perla Blanco and Gerardo Martinez got married in late July after four years of dating. Their special day, which was celebrated in Monterrey, Mexico, with close family and friends, went viral on TikTok when their guest Leonardo Aceves shared a clip of their unique wedding cake.

The top-tier featured a wedding cake topper of a bride and groom, but instead of going the traditional route, the bride is standing cross-armed with her bouquet in hand while the groom plays “Call of Duty: Warzone.”

The video quickly went viral with more than 7.2 million views and was reposted by popular TikTok and Instagram accounts which are dedicated to sharing memes and video game content. This had apparently opened the floodgates for critics.

Thousands of English and Spanish speakers commented that they found the wedding cake topper to be offensive to the bride based on the figurines alone. Other commenters found the joke to be funny, but their supportive words were far and few in between.

He really likes a video game called, ‘Call of Duty.’”

She went on, “We also know that this may not look as good as it is for some people, especially [to girls who] think our marriage might not last because of it, but Gerardo runs his own business a this is a way for him to free himself from work sometimes.

“HAHAHAHA love this cake,” Aceves captioned the clip in Spanish, in addition to wishing the Blanco and Martinez a long life.

“While planning the wedding my friends gave me the idea for a cake video game topping, it was all based in fun, so I asked Gerardo if he agreed on that since we wanted to have a very personalized wedding,” Blanco told FOX News. “Gerardo really likes to play video games as a hobby and as the COVID cases started raising, we decided to stay home. He really likes a video game called, ‘Call of Duty.’”

She went on, “We also know that this may not look as good as it is for some people, especially [to girls who] think our marriage might not last because of it, but Gerardo runs his own business a this is a way for him to free himself from work sometimes. I enjoy when he wins and we celebrate those victories together as well as our victories in the real-life”
