Sean McVay wants ‘great teammate’ Odell Beckham Jr back with Rams

NEWYou can now listen to Fox News articles!

Largely because of a torn ACL suffered in the Rams’ Super Bowl win, receiver Odell Beckham Jr. remains unsigned.

If it were up to Los Angeles head coach Sean McVay, that wouldn’t be the case and OBJ would again be wearing a Rams uniform. McVay said as much during a Thursday appearance on The Rich Eisen Show, telling the show’s host: “Oh, of course. I really want Odell back on our team. He’s a guy that, in a short amount of time, we were able to develop a really special relationship.”

Beckham joined the Rams last November and became an immediate contributor. In seven regular season games he found the end zone five times. He added another two touchdowns during LA’s post season run.

Throughout the offseason Beckham’s been linked to several teams, including the Saints, Packers, Browns (yes, seriously) and Rams, amongst others. Despite still recovering from his injury, Beckham appears to be waiting to sign until he receives an offer that’s richer than what’s currently on the table.

“They kno whwre (sic) I wanna be just can’t play for free,” Beckham tweeted last week, in response to a comment that had him poised to sign back with LA.

Though McVay doesn’t handle the Rams’ financials, he seems like a guy who’d be willing to assist the defending champs in finding some extra cash to fatten OBJ’s wallet. “I thought he brought a great spark to our team,” McVay told Rich Eisen. “I thought he played really well. He’s a great teammate.”

Beckham Jr. will likely be sidelined until late November or early December as he continues to rehab from his second torn ACL in 18 months. His ongoing recovery provides additional time and opportunity for McVay and the Rams to find a way to bring OBJ back to LA.

“Without a doubt, want to get Odell back here,” McVay added. “That’s the goal and continuing to work toward a solution of him re-signing with the Rams.”

That would certainly qualify as a Hollywood ending for one of the NFL’s biggest stars.

Odell Beckham Jr. still hurting over not finishing Super Bowl

NEWYou can now listen to Fox News articles!

Free-agent wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. made it to the NFL’s biggest stage but left early due to injury — which ruined the moment for him.

After suffering a torn ACL in the second quarter of Super Bowl LVI, Beckham enters the new season with a window of recovery ahead.

OBJ noted on Tuesday, via Twitter, that the early exit still haunts him most throughout his rehab.

He tweeted, “Man!!! Y’all forgive me! Some days my energy just hasn’t been there! Tryna let this Super Bowl … go man, my heart still aches. Thankful but that was a dream, only to turn into a nightmare. I’m comin back around!”

What the wideout can celebrate was an exceptional outing on the championship stage and tremendous progress in his ACL recovery.

In his first Super Bowl appearance, Beckham recorded two receptions on three targets for 52 yards, including a 17-yard touchdown from Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford.

OBJ showed off some speed with an update video in March — just four months after his ACL repair surgery.

Beckham hit exceptional speed in the footage and appears to be on track for full recovery sooner than later.

OutKick’s ProFootballDoc signed off on the progress.

Though OBJ remains unsigned, Stafford said that he stays in touch to express hopes of a new deal.

“I’ve been in contact with him, both checking on his knee, his new addition to his family, and just letting him know that we’d love to still have him,” Stafford said.

While the Battle of Ohio took place between the Cleveland Browns and Cincinnati Bengals at FirstEnergy Stadium on Thursday night, there was a skirmish in the stands.

The Browns only allowed 6,000 fans in attendance for the game, but it didn’t stop from those in attendance from starting a fight amid the restrictions in place due to the coronavirus outbreak.

NFL Draft prospect Justin Jefferson: Odell Beckham Jr’s cash was donated to church

Odell Beckham Jr. nearly overshadowed LSU’s undefeated season and national championship last month when he was seen passing out what appeared to be cash to Tigers wide receivers after the game.

Justin Jefferson was one of those players caught on camera taking the money from the Cleveland Browns star, which created a stir even though he was going to turn pro anyway. While it was unclear whether the cash was real at the time, Jefferson appeared to confirm that it was on Tuesday.

“A lot of people made a big deal, but it was really just the heat of the moment. We talked about it after the fact, and we both had some words about it. I mean, we shouldn’t have done it, but it was really just the heat of the moment,” Jefferson said, according to NFL.com. “We had some doubts about it. We knew we shouldn’t have done it.”

Officer hit by Odell Beckham Jr wants to drop charges over butt-slapping incident: report

An arrest warrant issued for Odell Beckham Jr. after he was seen slapping the backside of a security guard in the LSU Tigers locker room earlier this week may be withdrawn after the officer reportedly signed an affidavit Friday night saying he no longer wished to press charges, sources said.

The New Orleans Police Department issued a warrant for Beckham’s arrest Thursday on one count of simple battery after a video surfaced showing the Cleveland Browns’ wide receiver smacking the butt of a 48-year-old Superdome security guard but just one day later, the officer moved to dismiss the charge.

CLEVELAND CAVALIER’S TRISTAN THOMPSON EJECTED AFTER SLAPPING BUTT OF MEMPHIS GRIZZLIES’ JAE CROWDER

According to multiple sources who spoke to NOLA.com, the officer met with NOPD Wednesday morning wanting to press charges but on Friday evening, he signed an affidavit wanting to rescind the charge as he did not believe it was a criminal matter.

Police have not yet said if they will withdraw the warrant.

Trouble began Monday night following the national NCAA football championship game. Beckham, a former LSU Tiger, was seen celebrating with the players in the locker room after they bested Clemson University for the title.

In the original arrest warrant obtained by NOLA.com, the stadium officer was asked to enforce a no-smoking policy in the LSU locker rooms. Players were told to put out the cigars they were lighting and it was at that point when the Beckham came over and slapped the behind of a security guard speaking to one of the players.

The officer said he wanted to punch the wide receiver in retaliation but did not. According to the warrant, he had the authority to arrest Beckham on the spot but did not, citing the “jovial atmosphere.”

Beckham also came under fire for apparently handing out money to LSU players after the game. He was seen in a video appearing to give $100 bills to Tigers wide receivers Justin Jefferson and Jontre Kirklin.

Cleveland Browns star Odell Beckham Jr. reportedly has a warrant out for his arrest in New Orleans in connection to an incident with a security guard in the LSU Tigers locker room after the national championship game Monday.

A simple battery warrant was issued and signed by a judge Thursday, a law enforcement source told WDSU-TV.

LSU’S JOE BURROW: ODELL BECKHAM JR. WAS HANDING OUT CASH TO TEAMMATES

Beckham is seen in a video confronting a security guard who was telling LSU players not to smoke in the locker room. Beckham appeared to smack the guard on the butt. There didn’t appear to be a confrontation between the wide receiver and the guard afterward, but it wasn’t clear what was said between Beckham and the guard.

The Browns said Beckham was cooperating with authorities on the issue.

Beckham, an LSU alum, has come under fire since the national championship for apparently handing out money to LSU players after the game. He was seen in a video appearing to give $100 bills to Tigers wide receivers Justin Jefferson and Jontre Kirklin.

ODELL BECKHAM JR. RAISES EYEBROWS AFTER HE APPEARS TO HAND CASH TO LSU PLAYERS AFTER GAME

LSU quarterback Joe Burrow said in an interview on the Barstool Sports podcast “Pardon My Take” that Beckham was giving money to players. However, it wasn’t clear whether Beckham was handing out real money or novelty cash.

LSU said in a statement Wednesday it was investigating the matter.

“We are aware of the situation regarding Odell Beckham Jr. interacting with LSU student-athletes and others unaffiliated with the team following the championship game Monday night. Initial information suggested bills that were exchanged were novelty bills. Information and footage reviewed since shows apparent cash may have also been given to LSU student-athletes. We are in contact with the NCAA and the SEC immediately upon learning of this situation in which some of our student-athletes may have been placed in a compromising position. We are working with our student-athletes, the NCAA and the SEC in order to rectify the situation.”

LSU’s Joe Burrow: Odell Beckham Jr. was handing out cash to teammates

LSU quarterback Joe Burrow said in a podcast interview Wednesday Cleveland Browns star Odell Beckham Jr. was seen handing out cash after the national championship game.

Burrow confirmed on Barstool Sports’ “Pardon My Take” that Beckham was handing out cash to LSU wide receivers Justin Jefferson and Jontre Kirklin.

“I’m not a student-athlete anymore, so I can say yeah,” Burrow said on the episode.

Burrow didn’t make clear whether it was real currency.

Beckham, an LSU alum, was on the confetti-laden field of the Mercedes-Benz Superdome in New Orleans and furiously giving cash to the players. The players appeared to be receiving $100 bills from the Cleveland Browns star.

It would be a clear NCAA violation if it was found out the money was real. A school official told The Advocate that it was investigating the matter. After initially telling the newspaper the money was not real, the official later said that just because novelty bills were found on the field after the game, it wasn’t clear whether or not the novelty bills came from Beckham.

LSU coach Ed Orgeron was asked about the bills and said it was the first he was hearing about it.

Patrick Queen, the Defensive Player of the Game, said he didn’t see Jefferson or Kirklin receiving money from Beckham.

Jefferson had nine catches for 106 yards. Kirklin did not have a catch in the game. He told Yahoo Sports on Wednesday that he was declaring for the NFL Draft.

LSU later released a statement on the situation.
