Hailey Bieber details ‘the scariest moment of my life’ after heart procedure, mini-stroke

NEWYou can now listen to Fox News articles!

Hailey Bieber is sharing her health scare story.

On Monday, the model, 25, took to Instagram and YouTube to disclose details for the first time about her March 10 hospitalization, saying she wants to share her story in her “own words.”

She described the moments leading up to what she thought was a stroke. Hailey shared she was at breakfast with her husband, Justin Bieber, when her fingertips felt “numb and weird.” When her husband asked if she was OK, she said she “couldn’t speak.”

“The right side of my face started drooping, I couldn’t get a sentence out,” Hailey recalled. “Immediately, I thought I was having a stroke.”

Hailey shared that a medic was nearby to quickly assess her as an ambulance was on its way. She said her anxiety was “making everything worse,” and she experienced facial drooping that lasted about 30 seconds.

“By the time I got to the emergency room, I was pretty much back to normal – could talk, wasn’t having any issues with my face or my arm.”

Hailey shared that she stayed overnight while doctors conducted medical tests to try to understand what caused the blood clot. The doctor’s ruled out the possibility of a stroke after she scored a 0 on the test, but she said she suffered from a TIA — transient ischemic attack — or a mini-stroke.

Doctors told her she lacked oxygen in her brain, which led to the blood clot. Baldwin recalled in the video that the doctors told her three events contributed to her TIA.

The model shared that she recently started taking birth control, which her doctors were unaware of. Hailey went on to share she had recently had the coronavirus and was doing some traveling, specifically “from Paris and back in a really short amount of time.”

She was released from the hospital the following morning, and her doctors told her those three events created the “perfect storm.”

Additionally, Hailey went to UCLA, where she was diagnosed with a patent foramen ovale (PFO), which is described as a small opening in the heart that tends to close after birth.

After she had a trans cranial doppler, which she says is a “more accurate” and “in-depth” ultrasound test, she was diagnosed with Grade 5 PFO, which she said is the “highest grade” possible. Hailey explained that the blood clot escaped through the hole or “flap” in her heart and traveled to her brain.

At this stage in the process, Hailey said she was “grateful” she now knew what caused the blood clot and began to plan for her next steps.

She underwent a procedure to close the small hole in her heart, which she says her doctor recommended. A “small, button like object” was inserted into her groin to close the opening.

In the video, Hailey shared that the procedure went “very smoothly,” but she did mention she suffered from anxiety afterward over the possibility of another small stroke happening in the future.

“The biggest thing I feel is I just feel really relieved that we were able to figure everything out, that we were able to get it closed, that I will be able to move on from this really scary situation and just live my life.”

Hailey updated her fans on her daily medication, which consists of aspirin and blood thinners and assured everyone that she’s no longer suffering from symptoms.

She included in the video a special thanks to the doctors involved in her care. She said she waited to share the details of her medical scare because she wanted to wait until “everything had gone smoothly”.

“On Thursday morning, I was sitting at breakfast with my husband when I started having stroke like symptoms and was taken to the hospital,” she wrote at the time. “They found I had suffered a very small blood clot to my brain, which caused a small lack of oxygen, but my body had passed it on its own and I recovered completely within a few hours.

“Although this was definitely one of the scariest moments I’ve ever been through, I’m home now and doing well, and I’m so grateful and thankful to all the amazing doctors and nurses who took care of me!”

Hailey shared that since she made her health scare “kind of public,” she wanted to tell the whole story.

Hailey Baldwin begs social media trolls to ‘leave me alone’

NEWYou can now listen to Fox News articles!

    Hailey Baldwin has had enough.

The 25-year-old model took to TikTok with a message for social media users who leave unwanted comments on her posts.

“Leave me alone at this point. I’m minding my business. I don’t do anything. I don’t say anything. Leave me alone, please,” Justin Bieber’s wife says in the clip, which has been played nearly 16 million times on the platform.

Baldwin didn’t directly share the source of her frustration, but she’s long been on the receiving end of negative commentary from Selena Gomez‘s fanbase. For years, Gomez’s fans have shared their disapproval of Bieber moving on with Baldwin after splitting from Gomez.

“Enough time has gone by where it’s valid to leave me alone. I beg of you, truly. That’s my only request. Leave me alone. Be miserable somewhere else, please,” Baldwin concludes.

In her caption, Baldwin wrote: “This is for you guys in my comments every single time I post.”

The video has been liked 2.4 million times.

JUSTIN BIEBER ADDRESSES HAILEY BALDWIN’S ‘REALLY SCARY’ MEDICAL EMERGENCY

This isn’t the first time Baldwin has addressed criticism she’s received online. In 2019, Baldwin made headlines for firing back at followers who suggested she is “second best” to her husband’s ex-girlfriend.

“You little internet kiddos need to learn how to move on for real. We’re adults that have better things to do than waste time explaining something just so you can stop your delusional fantasies.”

The post ended with: “I’m not gonna sit here and let obsessive strangers try to tell me about my own husband, you wanna talk about somebodies [sic] husband then get ur own. G’night!!”

That same year, Gomez took it upon herself to defend Baldwin against internet hate shortly after the release of Gomez’s comeback track, “Lose You to Love Me.”

Though the lyrics of the song seem to throw shade at Gomez’s ex Bieber, the singer advised fans that attacking Baldwin, Bieber’s wife, is not appropriate behavior.

“I am so grateful for the response this song is getting. However, I do not stand for women tearing women down. And I will never, ever be by that,” Gomez said.

“Please be kind to everyone. It doesn’t matter what the situation is – if you’re my fan don’t be rude to anyone, please,” she said, seemingly alluding to Baldwin.

“Don’t go off and say things that you just feel in the moment. Just please, for me, know that that’s not my heart and my heart is only to release things I feel that are me and that I’m proud of. And that’s all that I’ll say,” Gomez concluded.

Bieber has also stood up for his wife multiple times. Shortly after tying the knot with Baldwin, he clapped back at an internet troll who was reportedly trying to hurt the couple by flooding their comments on social media with “Team Selena Gomez” messages.

“This sad excuse of a human just encouraged people on video to literally go after my wife, telling people to say that my previous relationship was better,” Bieber wrote. “I just wanted to share this so that people get an idea of what we face on a day to day.”

The “Yummy” singer admitted he finds it “extremely hard” to rise above the drama when he sees “people like this try and rally to gather people to bully the person I love the most in this world. It is not right.”

Gomez and Bieber’s relationship started in December 2010 and involved many breakups and makeups over the course of eight years. Amid the on-and-off relationship, Bieber entered a relationship with Baldwin, daughter of famed actor Stephen Baldwin. Bieber and Baldwin wed in 2018.

In the interview, Bieber revealed that when he and Hailey began seeing each other, he told her he couldn’t stay faithful to her.

“I’d let her know prior to the tour when we were hanging a lot, I said, ‘Listen, I’m still really hurt and still trying to figure out my way, and I’m not ready to make a commitment to you… I just don’t want to say something and do the opposite.'”

The “Yummy” singer has been involved in several high-profile relationships throughout his time in the spotlight, most notably an on-again-off-again romance with singer Selena Gomez, who he was speculated to have reunited with prior to dating Hailey.

“I think I still was dealing with a lot of unforgiveness and all that sort of stuff,” said Bieber. “To be honest, I don’t think I even knew what I was really struggling with at the time. I don’t think I knew I was dealing with unforgiveness.”

Things took a turn for Bieber, however, after he realized that he was causing Hailey pain.

“I was just in a place where I knew I didn’t want to tell [Hailey] one thing and… I felt like she respected me at the time and I had a lot of respect for her, and so I just didn’t want to say something and then she’d see me off doing some other thing,” he recalled. “But either way, she loved me and seeing me with other people hurt her. Justin Bieber talks past drug use: ‘It can be a dependency’

Justin Bieber is opening up about his past.

The 25-year-old singer is the subject of a new YouTube docuseries titled “Justin Bieber: Seasons,” which focuses on his life, career, music and wife Hailey.

In the series, Bieber addresses past drug use, including his first time smoking marijuana.

“The first time I smoked weed was in my backyard here — got super-stoned,” Bieber said via voice-over. “And then I realized I liked weed a lot. That’s when my desire to smoke weed started, and then I started smoking weed for a while.”

While smoking started as a recreational pastime for the singer, it eventually became much more complicated.
