Eli Manning to the Browns something ‘fans should be dreaming right now,’ former All-Pro says

A former All-Pro wide receiver suggested a radical plan for the Cleveland Browns on Tuesday.

Dez Bryant, who spent eight seasons with the Dallas Cowboys from 2010 to 2017, tweeted his own ideas for how the Browns should handle the offseason. One is to bring in quarterback Eli Manning.

BROWNS’ TODD MONKEN TOLD OPPOSING COACHES BEFORE GAMES TEAM WAS ‘TOTAL MESS’: REPORT

“This what Cleveland Brown fans should be dreaming row right now.. get Eli Manning  ..some how some way get 49ers D coordinator..run similar  style offense like the 49ers… Cleveland have crazy talent everywhere offense and defense…maximize it while you can I’m taking all bets,” Bryant tweeted.

Bryant defended his ideas in several tweets. He said he believes Manning could do a good job running the offense because of the talent on the Browns. He said Baker Mayfield still needs to learn.

ELI MANNING UNWILLING TO CALL IT QUITS JUST YET: ‘EVERYTHING IS AN OPTION’

Cleveland is going through a ton of changes, beginning with the firing of coach Freddie Kitchens and the departure of general manager John Dorsey.

The Browns’ offense didn’t reflect the team’s record this season. Mayfield nearly threw for 4,000 yards, while Nick Chubb had just under 1,500 yards while Odell Beckham Jr. and Jarvis Landry both recorded 1,000 yards receiving.

Manning is an aging quarterback, and he’s showed it over the last few seasons. He was replaced as the New York Giants starter for rookie Daniel Jones in 2019. A return to the Giants is unlikely in 2020. Manning had made clear he believes he can still play quarterback somewhere.

Eli Manning unwilling to call it quits just yet: ‘Everything is an option’

Eli Manning is hoping he will still be able to find a starting quarterback job in 2020, but said Monday that “everything is an option” at this point.

With his probable final address with the media as a member of the New York Giants on Monday, Manning added that being a backup is likely off the table because it is “not real fun.”

NEW YORK GIANTS RETAINING DAVE GETTLEMAN, FIRING PAT SHURMUR DRAWS BACKLASH FROM FANS ON SOCIAL MEDIA

“The first decision is whether I want to continue to play or not, and then I’ll go from there. That [putting on another uniform] will come into consideration. That’s what I’ll be thinking about these next couple days,” Manning told reporters, according to the New York Post.

He added that he believes he could still play.

Manning has spent his entire career with the Giants since the team traded for him during the 2004 draft. He led the Giants to two Super Bowl victories, but never had a statistical season that wowed anyone. He never led the league in passing yards or touchdown passes – only interceptions three times. Critics point to his stats as the reason he may not make the Hall of Fame despite winning the Super Bowl MVP twice.

ELI MANNING, DANIEL JONES GET FLIP-CUP TRIBUTE IN GIANTS’ TOUCHDOWN CELEBRATION

He started the 234 of the 236 games he played in. He threw for 57,023 yards and 366 touchdown passes. He also earned $252 million over the course of his career.

He said he hopes to make a decision on his playing career in the coming days or weeks.

“It’s tough to know how you are going to feel on this day and it takes a little bit of time for it to truly sink in,” Manning said. “The great thing about football is you can reflect on the good things and you can choose what to remember and what to forget.

“I’m going to choose to remember the wins and the fellowship here with my teammates. Too many great memories and laughs and wins and celebrations to worry about the tough times.”

Eli Manning gets standing ovation from New York Giants fans in potential final home game as starter

Eli Manning received a standing ovation from New York Giants fans in what could be his final home start at MetLife Stadium for the organization he’s led to two Super Bowl championships.

Manning helped the Giants to a win over the Miami Dolphins, 36-20. Manning was 20-for-28 with two touchdown passes and three interceptions.

He was removed from the game in the fourth quarter and New York let the MetLife Stadium crowd rain down praise on the quarterback.

The former No. 1 overall pick appeared to be a bit emotional on the sideline as fans were chanting “Eli Manning.” As he came off the field and marched into the tunnel, his kids were there to greet him.

Tributes also poured in on social media.

ELI MANNING WILL BE PLAYING IN 2020, HIS FORMER NEW YORK GIANTS TEAMMATE SAYS

If Sunday was indeed Manning’s final game as a member of the Giants, he finished it with over 56,000 passing yards, six 366 touchdown passes and a career record of 117-117 in the regular season.

It’s unknown what Manning’s intentions have been for after this season. Manning could become a free agent and try to latch onto a team for the 2020 season – it would be his 17th season should he find work again.

Rookie Daniel Jones is expected to get the start for the final two games of the season.

He had been nursing an ankle injury he suffered against the Green Bay Packers.

New York Giants’ Golden Tate III shows off concentration in touchdown catch vs. Miami Dolphins

New York Giants wide receiver Golden Tate III showed off some impeccable concentration during a game against the Miami Dolphins on Sunday.

Giants quarterback Eli Manning fired a ball toward Tate with about eight minutes left in the second quarter. The ball narrowly escaped a Dolphins defender; Tate tipped the ball to himself and spun around a would-be tackler. Tate then ran the rest of the way for a Giants touchdown.

New York, at that point, tied the game with Miami at seven apiece.

ELI MANNING WILL BE PLAYING IN 2020, HIS FORMER NEW YORK GIANTS TEAMMATE SAYS

It’s been up-and-down for the veteran wide receiver, in his first season with the Giants. He signed a four-year, $37.5 million deal with New York in the offseason and was expected to be the person who could come in and fill the hole left by Odell Beckham Jr. who was traded to the Cleveland Browns.

Tate initially was suspended for the first four games of the season for violating the league’s performance-enhancing drug policy.

Eli Manning will be playing in 2020, his former New York Giants teammate says

New York Giants quarterback Eli Manning still has the competitive fire in him and is apparently not thinking retirement despite losing his starting job to a rookie earlier this season, a former teammate said.

Plaxico Burress, the former Super Bowl champion wide receiver who caught the game-winning touchdown pass from Manning in Super Bowl XLII, told TMZ Sports on Friday he believes Manning is not finished in the NFL and that he will be playing in 2020.

Manning, 38, had two touchdown passes, two interceptions and 556 passing yards before Jones came in to replace him. Jones led the Giants to the team’s only two wins before the injury.

It’s unclear how long Jones will miss with the injury. The New York Post reported he is not expected to need surgery on the ankle.
