Adele told vacationing fan she lost 100 pounds: report

A lucky fan learned a lot about Adele’s stunning weight loss after a chance encounter with the artist while on vacation in Anguilla.

People magazine spoke with a 19-year-old student from Hingham, Mass. named Lexi Larson, who bumped into both the “Hello” singer as well as Harry Styles while on vacation with some family friends.

“A few minutes later, Adele came over and sat down next to me and my friend and was like, ‘So what can I do for you girls?’” Larson told People. “We were so excited. We were talking to her for a little while, and then she got Harry Styles to come over and sit with us also. We took a picture with Harry, and we talked to them for 15 minutes probably.”

Larson explained that she almost didn’t recognize Adele thanks to her new slim figure. The 31-year-old recording artist has been spotted in recent weeks having clearly lost a lot of weight. The young fan claims Adele actually revealed some impressive numbers on her weight loss.

“She said she lost something like 100 pounds and that it’s such a crazy positive experience,” Larson said. “She seemed so happy, and she looked amazing. She seemed really confident.”

Both Adele and Styles reportedly grilled the girls for a few minutes about their college life and plans for the future.

“It was a really positive experience. It was really cool,” Larson shared.

Adele allegedly declined to take a photo with the girls due to her 7-year-old son, Angelo, being with her and out of fear that showing off her location would attract paparazzi. Still, they managed to snag one with Styles.

Nonetheless, the 15-time Grammy winner was previously snapped on a beach in Anguilla giving fans yet another glimpse at her new, fit lifestyle.

California woman loses 350 pounds after gastric surgery, says she once ate 10,000 calories a day

[Editor’s note: This article discusses suicide. If you or someone you know is having thoughts of suicide, please contact the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline at 1-800-273-TALK (8255)]

After losing her mother and brother to suicide just two years apart, only one thing assuaged 41-year-old Teresa Marie: food.

The Long Beach, Calif., teacher consumed some 10,000 calories a day — which included large pizzas, fast food, “triple-decker” peanut butter sandwiches, grilled cheeses and “tons of chips, cookies and junk food on a daily basis,” she told SWNS, a British news agency.

“When he died, I completely checked out,” Marie said of her brother, who committed suicide after he was allegedly bullied for being gay. “It was the very first traumatic loss I experienced and I blamed myself for not being able to help my brother.”

“I stopped taking care of myself,” she continued. “My mother killed herself a couple of years later. Their deaths played a role in [my]  lack of self-love and self-care.”

By 2016, Marie told SWNS she weighed 570 pounds and was considered morbidly obese. But the 41-year-old had a wake-up call that same year when she suffered a “mild heart attack,” she said.

Doctors treating her warned that she could die within the next five years if she didn’t do something about her weight. That’s when she chose to make a drastic lifestyle change, putting herself on a strict diet before undergoing gastric bypass surgery to reduce the size of her stomach.

Between 2017 and 2018, Marie said she lost about 140 pounds from diet and exercise alone. In 2018, she underwent surgery to reduce the size of her stomach to about the size of a medium egg.

“Eventually I had to realize I couldn’t hold on to that guilt,” she said of her family members’ deaths.

The Golden State resident says she now consumes about 1,500 calories a day and has lost 350 pounds overall. She now weighs 220 pounds.

“I started walking more and went on a ketogenic-based diet that involves eating foods with a low carbohydrate and low sugar content,” she said of her weight-loss journey. “On the day of surgery I was 390 pounds and as a teacher, I could not stand for longer than two minutes without feeling like I was going to die. Little by little, I worked out.”

Marie said she lost both her brother and mother to suicide just two years apart. She used food to cope with their deaths.

Today, at a healthier weight, Marie says she “feels so different about [me] and my life.”

“Eventually, I had to realize I couldn’t hold on to that guilt,” she said of her family members’ deaths. “I now see a life full of love, happiness, good health, and most importantly, I see a bright future ahead. It’s never too late to turn it all around.”

Mom embarks on weight loss journey, drops nearly 60 pounds to ‘be the legs’ for disabled son

A British mom whose son will likely never talk or walk due to a rare condition affecting his brain lost nearly 60 pounds in a bid to “be the legs” for her child.

Joanne Grimshaw, 35, says her son, Ellis, was sick as a newborn — he had trouble sleeping and would not feed. Her concerns were reportedly dismissed by doctors.

But a week before his 1st birthday in March 2018, the young boy underwent a brain scan which revealed part of Ellis’s brain was missing. More specifically, Ellis was born without a corpus callosum, or what connects the left hemisphere of the brain to the right. It’s critical for coordination and “complex problem-solving,” said Medical News Today.

Due to his missing corpus callosum, Ellis has a disorder called  “agenesis of the corpus callosum.” It’s rare, affecting just one in every 3,000 people, according to the medical website. Grimshaw claims she’s been told that her son will likely never walk or talk as a result.

The stress due to the issues with her son’s health caused Grimshaw to rely heavily on food to assuage her anxieties. But after receiving her son’s diagnosis, the mom — who said she once had trouble walking up stairs without becoming out of breath — said she chose to make a drastic lifestyle change in an effort to ensure her son could live life to its fullest.

“I would eat chocolate and crisps from the vending machine and grab McDonald’s or Indian [food] on the way home,” she said, according to Metro.

“I was so unfit and overweight but determined to do my best to make sure he never misses out,” she added.  “I thought, ‘If Ellis can’t do it, then I will do it for him.’”

Joanne Grimshaw says she was once unable to climb stairs without becoming out of breath.

The mom began seeing results after she made simple changes, like swapping sugary cereals in the morning for a fruit smoothie. She also cut out fast food.

Eventually,  Grimshaw dropped 56 pounds. She says the weight loss has completely changed her life — even in the simplest of ways.

“I am now able to walk anywhere holding Ellis, push him on the swings and even go on small fair rides – something I was ashamed to attempt when I was at my heaviest,” she said, noting that through her son’s continued health issues, “ I will continue to be the legs for my little boy.”

Iowa man sheds half his body weight after invasive spinal surgery, says he once ate ‘with no constraint’

An Iowa man who once weighed 430 pounds says invasive spinal surgery pushed him to make dramatic lifestyle changes that led to his 215-pound weight loss journey.

In Sept. 2017, Adam Harris, 38, of Spencer, Iowa, underwent surgery for spinal stenosis, a condition where the spaces within the spine begin to narrow, putting “pressure on the nerves that travel through the spine,” as per the Mayo Clinic.

WOMAN WITH SEVERE ECZEMA SAID SHEETS WERE FILLED WITH DEAD SKIN EACH MORNING: IT WAS ‘LIKE A SANDPIT’

Harris faced complications during surgery, forcing doctors to perform a full lumbar laminectomy, a surgical procedure where a part of the spine is removed to alleviate pressure on the spinal cord and nerves.

“At one point in the hospital, I was super angry that the world had put me in this situation. Something snapped, and I realized that I had been a passenger in life, waiting for the world to unfold around me,” he said.

“My surgeon did have some words that stuck: ‘I fixed the frame, now you have to take the snow off the roof,” he added.

It was after surgery that Harris drastically changed his life. After spending a week in the hospital, Harris began a low-carb diet and intermittent fasting — a radical change to his prior eating habits that often included more than a pound of meat and an “enormous side” of potatoes or pasta for dinner. Lunches would often include a pizza buffet or a large burger and fries.

“I ate with no constraint and every meal was over the top,” he said.

At first, his new diet typically consisted of steak and cauliflower. Harris said he would not eat before 7 p.m. each day. “I was looking for 100 grams of fat a day and under 25 grams of carbs,” he said. By January 2019, he was down 100 pounds.

Over the year, Harris shed an additional 115 pounds — largely thanks to his new eating habits and also taking part in a “vigorous” workout routine.

But his lifestyle changes have not only affected his weight and overall health. Harris said the journey has led him to realize some of the relationships in his life weren’t positively serving him.

“It’s weird when you make a lifestyle change. I lost a lot of friends. I found that some of my friendships were unhealthy. Sometimes, being positive will drive negative people away,” he said.

“The biggest change is perception,” he continued. “A man asked me if I was a marine the other day because the only other person he knew that took such good care of his body was a marine.”

He added: “It’s our responsibility to take ourselves where we want to be.”
