Florida suspends abortion clinic after hospitalizations

NEWYou can now listen to Fox News articles!

An abortion clinic that serves women from all over the U.S. South had its license suspended this weekend under an emergency order from Florida health officials after two women who had undergone procedures at the clinic were hospitalized this year.

The state Agency for Health Care Administration ordered the suspension of the license for American Family Planning of Pensacola, effective starting Saturday.

In cases cited by the agency, the clinic failed to monitor the patients at all times, didn’t provide medical records when patients were transferred for greater care and didn’t contact the patients within 24 hours after they left the clinic to assess their recovery, said the order which was issued on Friday.

It said the problems were operational deficiencies “endangering the health, safety and welfare” of the clinic’s patients, and the clinic failed to submit timely reports about the incidents to the state agency.

In one case, clinic workers urged the husband of a patient to take her to a hospital in Mobile, Alabama, rather than a closer hospital in Pensacola that had a transfer agreement with the clinic, delaying her treatment. At the Alabama hospital, the woman needed to be resuscitated and required a transfusion to replace blood loss, according to the emergency order.

In another case from March, a patient was taken to the emergency room of a Pensacola hospital with bleeding and low blood pressure. She needed emergency surgery and a surgeon performed a hysterectomy. Last year, a third patient required a uterine perforation repair, according to the emergency order.

“Women receiving abortions must receive the level of care and services mandated by law,” the emergency order said.

The clinic is entitled to a hearing about the decision.

A woman who says she works for the clinic’s scheduling service answered its phone on Sunday but said nobody was there who could talk about the emergency order.

Because of its historically less restrictive laws, Florida has long been considered a “safe haven” for women from neighboring states wanting to get abortions. On its website, the clinic says it serves women from Florida, Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana and Georgia.

Even though Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis signed into law last month legislation that would ban most abortions after 15 weeks, Florida’s abortion law is still likely to be less restrictive than those of neighboring states should the U.S. Supreme Court overturn Roe v. Wade.

In the wake of the Supreme Court draft opinion leak signaling the potential dismantling of Roe v Wade this summer, The Washington Post published an opinion column Friday by an abortionist touting her new “later abortion” clinic, which is called a “lifeline.”

Morgan Nuzzo, a nurse-midwife and co-founder of Partners in Abortion Care, began her column talking about her “plan for the Bad Day in June,” i.e. the day the Supreme Court officially releases its abortion ruling and “a massive rollback of civil and human rights” begins.

Her plan for that day includes “coping strategies: stocking up on comfort foods and favorite beers, hand-selecting the people we’d want to be with — the colleagues we felt closest to, the ones we loved the most, the ones who were going to quietly pass the tissues when we couldn’t hold back the tears.”

“We knew we would remember who was with us the day Roe was overturned. We knew the worst was coming. And seeing the leaked draft opinion, we weren’t wrong. The Bad Day in June was simply preceded by the Bad Day in May,” she added.

Nuzzo then described how she and her “obstetrician/gynecologist” partner Diane Horvath have performed abortions for 20 years, saying, “[W]e have cared for patients as state legislatures have chipped away at our freedom and the anti-choice movement at our culture.”

The pair has been planning a new abortion clinic since they started seeing the Supreme Court being “meticulously stacked” with conservative justices and it will open this fall in Maryland.

The author explained independent abortion clinics have been closing down and, “If Roe is overturned, more will follow. That is why we decided to open our clinic, even as the future is uncertain.”

Wade case that legalized abortion nationwide, according to a Politico report.  ((AP Photo/Gemunu Amarasinghe))

With many states expected to ban abortion if Roe falls, their clinic “could soon become one of the southernmost abortion providers in the nation. It will be a lifeline for patients in our community and throughout the Southeast and across the country.”

Nuzzo wrote that their abortion clinic “will specialize in later abortion care” which is the preferred pro-choice phrase for the more commonly known “late-term abortion.” According to her abortion clinic’s website, “She is one of the few midwives trained to provide abortion care through all trimesters.”

Instead of offering the typical response that late abortions are done only because of health problems or fetal abnormalities, the main reason she gave was that women “simply didn’t know they were pregnant” yet. She cited one study that said “most people seeking abortions in the second trimester discovered their pregnancy after eight weeks, and 1 in 5 discovered theirs after 20 weeks,” indicating elective abortions.

“We will offer later abortion care simply because people need it and will likely need it even more if Roe is overturned,” Nuzzo declared.

“There is nothing easy about starting a clinic, to be sure. Especially now. I fear for my family’s safety and my own,” she wrote.

She wrote of the financial burdens, “In addition, we have to rely on crowdfunding to help get our clinic started. That, sadly, is the reality of health care in 2022.” But, then, in the next paragraph, said, “So many have rallied around us as we prepare to open our clinic. People are supporting their local abortion funds and independent clinics like ours through Keep Our Clinics.”

“Though we believed the worst was coming, our community is showing up for our patients and each other. As abortion providers, we see the best of our communities every day. And that gives me hope,” she concluded.

Republicans introduce ‘Women’s Bill of Rights’ to protect accomplishments, ensure safety of biological females

NEWYou can now listen to Fox News articles!

EXCLUSIVE: Republicans are introducing a “Women’s Bill of Rights” in order to enshrine into law protections for females based on their biological sex.

Rep. Debbie Lesko, R-Ariz., is leading lawmakers on the Republican Study Committee (RSC), the largest group of conservative lawmakers on the Hill, in formally introducing the legislation Thursday morning.

“I am proud to introduce the Women’s Bill of Rights to affirm the importance of acknowledging women and their unique and distinguishing characteristics and contributions to our nation. As the Left continues to erase women, we must fight for women and their place in our society. Whether it’s keeping the word “mother” in written law, or ensuring women’s domestic violence shelters do not have to accept biological men, we must stand up for women,” Lesko told Fox News Digital.

Rep. Debbie Lesko, R-Ariz., is leading lawmakers on the Republican Study Committee in formally introducing the legislation Thursday morning.

The bill states that the Women’s Bill of Rights is necessary to establish in order to “reaffirm legal protections afforded to women under Federal law” due to that face that males and females have unique biological differences, which increases as they age.

The lawmakers’ bill says that due to biological differences, only females are able to “get pregnant, give birth, breastfeed children.” In addition, males are larger and possess greater strength than females due to biology. The text also states that females are subjected to more specific forms of violence, including sexual violence.

Despite these biological differences, the lawmakers point out that women have succeeded in education, athletic and other accomplishments, and due to “misguided court rulings related to the definition of ‘sex,'” that has endangered “spaces and resources” dedicated to women, the bill is necessary to clarify terms in order to afford women protections.

HOUSE REPUBLICANS TO MAKE PROTECTING WOMEN’S SPORTS A ‘PRIORITY’ IF THEY RETAKE MAJORITY

RSC chairman Rep. Jim Banks, R-Ind., told Fox News Digital: “The modern Democrat party has put the Left’s woke agenda before the rights of women. These days, Democrats refuse to even admit women exist or recognize them as unique beings, with unique abilities.”

“While radical liberals strip away the progress and protections that generations of women fought to achieve, Republicans must fight back and acknowledge these basic biological truths. As the father of three daughters, I’m proud to co-lead this resolution reaffirming the legal protections afforded to them under federal law,” Banks continued.

Reps. Mary Miller of Illinois and Diana Harshbarger of Tennessee are also leading the bill with Lesko and Banks. Joining them as original cosponsors include Reps. Claudia Tenney of New York, Vicky Hartzler of Missouri, Victoria Spartz of Indiana, Ronny Jackson of Texas and Doug LaMalfa of California. A bill has also been introduced in the Senate led by Sen. Cindy Hyde-Smith, R-Miss., and Sen. Cynthia Lummis, R-Wyo.

“This common-sense document will help codify our common understanding and the reality we all know of the words ‘female,’ ‘woman,’ and ‘sex’, and I am proud to support it,” Rep. Miller added.

The legislation clarifies, “for purposes of Federal law, a person’s ‘sex’ means his or her biological sex (either male or female) at birth” and the term “mother” means “parents of female sex and ‘father’ is defined as parent of the male sex.” It continues: “there are important reasons to distinguish between the sexes with respect to athletics, prisons, domestic violence shelters, restrooms, and other areas, particularly where biology, safety, and privacy are implicated.”

Women’s groups including Independent Women’s Voice, Family Policy Alliance and Concerned Women for America, are supportive of the legislation, which they say will help fight sex discrimination and better protect women.

“We can’t fight sex discrimination if we can’t agree on what it means to be a woman. And we can’t collect accurate data regarding public health, medicine, education, crime, and the economic status of women if we redefine sex to mean ‘gender identity,’” Independent Women’s Law Center director Jennifer C. Braceras told Fox News Digital.

The issue of biological males competing in women’s sports has been in the national spotlight recently as transgender woman Lia Thomas swept races at the 2022 NCAA Swimming and Diving Championship.

On Wednesday, Democratic witness Aimee Arrambide, the executive director of the abortion rights nonprofit Avow Texas, testified before the House Judiciary Committee on abortion rights and declared that men can get pregnant and have abortions.

In addition, a “pregnant man” and “pregnant person” emojis were released earlier this year in a voluntary update to the iPhone.

A senior GOP aide told Fox News Digital earlier this week that “protecting women’s sports will be a priority of a Republican majority” and Republican members are gearing up to tackle the issue should the House flip in November.

The RSC is also pushing that the “Protection of Women and Girls in Sports Act,” led by Rep. Greg Steube, R-Fla., be brought to the House floor expeditiously through a discharge petition.

Washington state school board director set to host ‘Queer Youth Open Mic Night’ at sex shop

NEWYou can now listen to Fox News articles!

A Washington state school board director is slated to host a “Queer Youth Open Mic Night” for children ranging from ages 0-18 at a sex shop.

“All queer youth (0 to 18 years old) are invited to share poetry, music, or a story at our open mic night. Sign up for a performer spot ahead of time, 5-minute time limit,” a Facebook post from the sex shop WinkWink in Bellingham, Washington, says.

WinkWink is described as a “woman-owned, identity-inclusive sex shop” that is “sex-positive, body-positive, and gender-affirming.” The sex shop is owned by Jenn Mason, the school board director for the Bellingham School District, KTTH radio host Jason Rantz reported Wednesday.

“WinkWink offers a space for people — including queer folks — to ask questions and learn about sexuality in an accepting, safe, and shame-free environment. We receive extensive sexual health training and are a knowledgeable, inclusive community resource — something severely lacking around sexuality in our culture,” Mason told the Jason Rantz Show.

Mason added that the event is not related to her role on the school board and explained that the open mic night for kids would be “physically separated” from the sex toys in the shop. The shop notes on its website that in addition to selling sex toys and other intimate items, it also hosts classes such as “Non-monogomy for newbies” and private intimacy and sex coaching sessions taught by Mason.

MSNBC columnist: Men should get ‘vasectomies’ in response to ‘extreme right-wing minority rule government’

MSNBC columnist Liz Plank wrote an opinion column Tuesday encouraging men to get vasectomies to further the fight for abortion rights.

In her piece, Plank began with some data showing that men’s internet searches for information regarding vasectomies have increased since the Supreme Court draft opinion leaked indicating that Roe v. Wade could be overturned.

She reported, “Data shows daily searches related to vasectomies are up 99 percent and searches for the term ‘how much is a vasectomy’ are up 250 percent.” Plank also observed that Michigan, “one of the 13 states with a trigger law that would automatically ban or severely restrict abortion if the Supreme Court were to go ahead with its leaked decision,” leads in the number of men searching for info on vasectomies.

Plank talked to Manuel Benavides, a family man in Texas with a wife and two kids, who discussed getting a vasectomy with his wife after Gov. Greg Abbott, R-Texas, signed the Texas Heartbeat Bill last year. Once the Court draft opinion leaked, he made up his mind to get one.

He told the author, “My wife has had a negative reaction to the pill, and I don’t think that the responsibility of whether we become pregnant or not should fall on my partner.”

Plank reported men in blue states where abortion is in less danger also “are making the decision to shift the responsibility of family planning onto their bodies.”

She was encouraged that plenty of men seem to support the pro-choice movement. “The presence of men at the various national protests held across the country, highlighted by the hashtag #MenAtTheMarch, reflects Pew Research Center data showing that men tend to be just as supportive as women when it comes to abortion rights,” she wrote.

Plank then mentioned Matthew, a 36-year-old Massachusetts resident she interviewed over email, who described how “he and his wife booked an appointment for a vasectomy last week” because of the leak. He stated, “It really is difficult to emphasize how much the SCOTUS leak changed our trajectory on this. We had joked about scheduling it around a major sporting event, now we just want to get it done as soon as possible.”

LA TIMES EDITORIAL BOARD BLAMES ‘NORMALIZATION’ OF ‘VIRULENT WHITE SUPREMACY’ ON REPUBLICANS

“For other men, getting a vasectomy is a way to reclaim their freedom in a country that’s become more and more oppressive, especially for men with intersecting identities,” she wrote, before describing an example of an autistic man who “already feels like his reproductive rights are under threat.”

The gentleman, Mickey Rowe, told her “since my vasectomy was consensual, it was something I was choosing for myself, it felt empowering.”

Plank then scolded men in the U.S. on the vasectomy front, writing, “American men are well behind the rest of the industrialized world when it comes to vasectomies.” She explained that “men in Canada and the U.K. are twice as likely to get vasectomies compared to their female partners getting sterilized, but in America the figures are reversed.”

    Newborn baby

She followed that up with a strong hint for pro-choice men, “Where gently encouraging men to get vasectomies hasn’t exactly worked, maybe an extreme right-wing minority rule government encoding forced birth into law will.”

“It’s unclear whether this surge in men’s interest in family planning will last, but given that many states have only become more rabidly dystopian in their anti-abortion rights endeavors, it’s at least plausible this is more than just a passing trend,” Plank continued.

“While some ultra-conservatives may have believed banning abortion would lead to more babies, their radical stance may have just encouraged men to go to greater lengths to do the exact opposite,” she wrote, perhaps thinking that getting vasectomies will “own the cons.”

“But in a world where women don’t have a guaranteed constitutional right to access abortion and men don’t have any laws regulating their bodies, the burden of family planning will have to fall on them. If that scares the men who haven’t been showing up to the fight for reproductive justice, they’ll need to put up a bigger fight,” she concluded.

NY Times column says GOP senators compared women to ‘sea turtles’ during abortion debate

NEWYou can now listen to Fox News articles!

Opinion columnist Gail Collins accused Republican senators of comparing women to sea turtles in a Wednesday op-ed featured in The New York Times, calling out Sens. Steve Daines, R-Mont., and James Lankford, R-Okla., for employing the comparison after she reflected on the sexist rhetoric of her Catholic girls’ school.

“The goal of the Democratic Senate bill was mainly to get the public focused on the reproductive rights issue before the fall elections. And that certainly couldn’t hurt,” she wrote.

“There have to be voters out there who aren’t all that geared up about going to the polls but who might be moved if they got to hear the speech by Republican Steve Daines of Montana that praised anti-abortion laws as being similar to ones ‘that protect the eggs of a sea turtle or the eggs of eagles.'”

Collins noted that the sea turtle comparisons “have been coming up a lot” during abortion debates and criticized the assertion that human babies in the womb should be as valued and protected as the fertilized eggs of endangered animals.

SENATE FAILS TO ADVANCE BILL TO GUARANTEE ABORTION ACCESS NATIONWIDE

”If people call me a radical for believing children are valuable — so be it,” Lankford told a group of pro-choice demonstrators, according to the piece.

Collins said the “radical” label does not come from believing children are valuable but instead from “believing that the reproductive experiences of female water-dwelling reptiles are comparable to the experiences of human beings whose offspring will need and deserve many years of constant care and concern in order to prosper.”

The criticism falls after a lengthy critique of her Catholic girls’ school’s religious – and allegedly sexist – rhetoric which emphasized the need for sex to occur only between married couples, called out abortion for being an act of murder and condemned intimate behaviors between boys and girls.

“I still have a vivid memory of being marched into the auditorium for a lecture from a visiting cleric who assured us that when Jesus was dying on the cross, he was tortured by a vision of the sins of mankind — notably adolescent girls ‘’making out with boys in the back seat of a car,'” she wrote before tying in a comparison to a conservative-majority Supreme Court that, in last week’s leaked draft opinion, caused an uproar with a proposal that would revert abortion policy powers to the states.

“It’s pretty clear where we’re going,” she wrote.

“The Supreme Court’s Trump-constructed majority will reject the by-now-longstanding understanding that a woman has the constitutional right to decide whether she wants to end a pregnancy. In at least 13 states, laws banning abortion could kick into place almost immediately.

“This is the land of my high school religion classes,” she wrote.

Piers Morgan dishes on Taliban interview, says ‘woke’ US corporations silent on misogynist Afghan rulers

NEWYou can now listen to Fox News articles!

Fox Nation host Piers Morgan spoke to “Hannity” about his recent, contentious interview with Taliban spokesman Suhail Shaheen, in which Morgan challenged him about Afghanistan’s restrictions on women in school and strict hijab laws.

In clips from the interview, now streaming on Fox Nation, Morgan sparred with Shaheen over what he reported is a near-ban on girls in upper-grade levels.

“The issue of secondary-school education for girls. They are under consideration,” Shaheen replied.

During a back-and-forth about hijab laws, Shaheen claimed many women choose to “observ[e] hijab” while Morgan maintained the body-covering clothing is compulsory under Taliban rule.

Speaking with Hannity, Morgan added that “woke” corporate executives express outrage at certain U.S. education and election policies – but remain largely silent on the atrocities happening in Afghanistan where, as host Sean Hannity reported, many Americans or green-card-holders remain stuck.

“We hear a lot from big corporations like Disney when they want a virtue-signal down in Florida about sex education to young kids, but not a word from them about the oppression of millions of Afghani women in Afghanistan,” he said.

“Because, of course, it was a Democrat president that created this fiasco [and] that shows a political bias for all these corporations. None of them dare speak out about this kind of thing.”

Hannity agreed, adding that it has been 270 days since Biden “abandoned fellow Americans behind enemy lines … and surrendered to the Taliban.”

Of his interview with Shaheen, Morgan added that he challenged the spokesman on the education policy again in his closing portion, asking if Shaheen’s daughters must abide by the same rules.

Morgan reported that Shaheen is based in Qatar, which has much less restrictive governance.

“I said, do they go to school? – He’s in Doha – Yes, he said, they do,” Morgan recounted.

“And of course, that right there is the hypocrisy, which is riddled through the Taliban ethos. One rule for them [and] their children, another rule for these poor school girls in Afghanistan.”

Morgan concluded that the “catastrophic failure” in Afghanistan will be on Biden’s conscience “for the rest of his life.”

Medical company creates most accurate 3D model of female anatomy ever

NEWYou can now listen to Fox News articles!

Elsevier has launched “the most advanced 3-D full female model ever available,” according to a recent press release.

“This is the first time that a female model has been built with this level of detail in its entirety, to represent the female — versus replacing specific areas of the male anatomy with female features,” the Elsevier release stated. The company, which is a known leader in publishing research and information analytics, said in the release that this model would help educators for the first time teach, visualize, and edit anatomy entirely from the female perspective using a realistic detailed 3-D model.

Historically, the female anatomy has been underrepresented in the study of the human body and the company said this is a major milestone in equal representation in helping prepare nursing, allied health and medical students with a complete understanding of the female anatomy, the release said.

Elsevier says its 3D female model includes the following clear differences from male anatomy models:

    • The skeletal system will accommodate changes to reflect the boney angles typically seen in the female and will demonstrate differences in areas that differ from males including in the pelvis and skull
    • Accurate portrayal of muscles. The overall volume of muscle mass for each muscle was reduced by approximately 30%, based on research findings comparing male and female demographics.
    • Visually detailed female-specific regions. The female-specific regions have been equally detailed to that of the male. The release stated that breast tissue can be hemisected or quartered to allow the student or instructor to see the underlying tissues with a more accurate distribution and representation of the mammary glands, now shown as nonlactating, unlike most anatomical resources, the release noted. The reproductive organs from the internal and external genitalia have also been remodeled
    • Comparative functionality. The release said that users could switch between the male and female models to allow comparisons throughout the different structures and systems.

“As an advocate for content that is diverse and inclusive, we are thrilled to offer this groundbreaking full female model to allow educators to teach anatomy in an equal and comprehensive way. Complete Anatomy is continuing Elsevier’s rich heritage of innovation in education by delivering on our vision of providing transformative medical education solutions,” Elizabeth Munn, Managing Director, Global Medical Education, Elsevier, said in the release.

Lead subject-matter expert on the update, Yasmin Carter, PhD, Assistant Professor of Translational Anatomy at the UMass Chan Medical School, in Worcester, MA, said in the release, “One of the inherent dangers in using only the male body as ‘anatomical normal’ and the female body as a variation is perpetuating sexist attitudes. This unconscious bias will be carried by learners into their future interactions with the body, including potentially with patients.”

AIR FORCE VET WHO BATTLED TOUGH FERTILITY ISSUE TELLS OTHERS, ‘KNOWLEDGE IS POWER’

Carter also said this model helped create a diverse, balanced, and accurate platform for instructors. Carter said this option would help “evolve equitable teaching practices by normalizing the female body. Complete Anatomy’s female model will support me in training the next generation of medical professionals to be more appropriate and inclusive.”

The report also said the 3-D female anatomy offers educators a more comprehensive teaching approach and gives them the option to switch readily between teaching the female and male anatomy in their curriculum for comparative purposes.

The future of education requires visionaries and innovators to create engaging interactive environments for this century’s digitally-native generation of learners.”

McWilliams told Fox News that using 3-D anatomy models bridges theory to practice and said the more realistic you can be, the better. The simulation director told Fox News, “I think it will improve patient outcomes because it will help them translate it into the real world.”

The model is part of the company’s app based, 3D platform called Complete Anatomy, which is a top-selling cloud-based medical education app from 3D4 Medical by Elsevier. The model is being used in some first year medical programs in the UK, the release said.

Air Force vet who battled tough fertility issue tells others, ‘Knowledge is power’

California native and Air Force veteran Jasmine Zielomski struggled with a relatively common but rarely discussed fertility foe — and wound up turning it into a success story.

While it wasn’t easy, her tale of triumph offers a message for hope for many other women across the U.S.

For more than a decade, Zielomski said she experienced difficulties in getting pregnant — and finally sought out professional help.

“I’d been to so many different gynecologists over the years and had no answers.”

She was first diagnosed with PCOS — polycystic ovary syndrome — at age 31. This issue causes seven million girls and women across the U.S. each year to experience hormonal imbalances.

“I never had any pregnancy scares, ever,” she revealed to Fox News Digital. “And I kind of always had an irregular period, and I just thought that was just how my body was,” she said.

“I didn’t know this for so many years … I’d been to so many different gynecologists over the years and had no answers,” she said.

After meeting with a doctor two years ago who guided her through a failed attempt at in vitro fertilization — and although 20 of her eggs were retrieved — the Air Force air traffic controller ultimately contacted Dr. Jane Frederick of Newport Beach, Calif., an internationally known fertility specialist, for a second opinion.

Frederick is the medical director of one of the largest in vitro fertilization centers west of the Mississippi.

Soon, the tide began to turn for the Air Force veteran.

    Leading cause of female infertility

The hormone disorder PCOS affects about 3% to 10% of reproductive-age women and is the leading cause of female infertility.

It can also cause irregular periods, increased hair growth, acne flare-ups, weight gain and glucose intolerance.

COULD MY IRREGULAR PERIODS BE PCOS?

In an interview, Dr. Frederick shared with Fox News Digital that her practice specializes in treating women with PCOS who may be unaware of how to manage the symptoms — or are having trouble getting pregnant.

The board-certified OB-GYN and reproductive endocrinology specialist said it’s important for women who may be struggling with PCOS to know the signs — and consult with a doctor for diagnosis and treatment.

The disorder mainly blocks ovulation by halting the ovaries from releasing eggs.

There’s no cure for PCOS — and it can cause long-term medical problems such as diabetes, heart disease and uterine cancer if left untreated.

“I urge women to be read about it, be aware of what your diagnosis is … and to know that you’re not alone.”

Frederick encouraged PCOS patients to remember that they are not alone in this journey and to reach out to various and available support groups.

“The emotional issues are really tough for this group because women feel that their body is just not working,” she said.

WOMEN WITH COMMON OVARY PROBLEM MAY NOT GET RECOMMENDED TESTS

“This can lead to irritability, anxiety — and that makes it really tough to have a normal life. It [can have] a great effect on their emotional lives and their relationships with their partner,” she added. “I urge women to be read about it, be aware of what the diagnosis is … and to know that you’re not alone.”

    ‘This was a sign’

Zielomski returned to her previous doctor with Frederick’s recommendation of introducing Metformin as a treatment for her dark, granular eggs.

The doctor agreed — but then allegedly under-stimulated her, as they carried on with a second IVF attempt.

Another grueling process and thousands of dollars later, Zielomski was out of luck once again. Discouraged, Zielomski looked into fertility benefits through the military.

She found a program that covered three rounds of IVF; it also offered a list of in-network physicians. Frederick was one of the doctors listed.

“I was like, this is a sign!” she exclaimed. “This [was] definitely a sign that I should be going to her.”

The veteran began treatment with Dr. Frederick — and underwent IVF once more, while being treated with Metformin.

After the first round, 22 of her eggs were retrieved, which produced 10 normal embryos and paved the way for a successful transfer in February.

As of this writing, Zielomski is 14 weeks pregnant with her first child. Her baby is due in October.

“Definitely reach out and be very open with your doctors about all of your symptoms so that you can get the treatment that you need.”

“Dr. Frederick … knew exactly the kind of medication that I needed, the dosing that I needed and was able to give me the results that I needed.”

Zielomski added, “And just to prove to myself, there was nothing wrong with me besides the fact that I had PCOS — and she just knew how to handle that.”

The mother-to-be shared a message for other women who may be struggling with PCOS that “knowledge is power” when it comes to a disease that is not spoken about often.

“It’s not anything to be embarrassed about,” she said. “Definitely reach out and be very open with your doctors about all of your symptoms so that you can get the treatment that you need.”

Said Dr. Frederick about the issue, “I talk to a lot of moms groups and I tell them that, if you have a young daughter who’s just starting her menstrual cycle at age 12, and you’re noticing that she’s had irregular cycles, problems with acne, weight gain, all of these symptoms — it might be a diagnosis of PCOS,” she said.

“I also tell my couples that 40% of female infertility is due to the male factor.”

“Moms can really be the first caregiver to make this diagnosis.”

Most treatment for girls struggling with PCOS is a hormonal birth control pill to regulate periods. But when it comes time for a PCOS patient to attempt pregnancy, Dr. Frederick explained this is where a fertility specialist should be part of the equation.

“First of all, make sure that other reasons for infertility are ruled out,” she advised. “I also tell my couples that 40% of female infertility is due to the male factor.”

If issues persist, Frederick suggested medication like Metformin, which is a glucose regulator, or Inositol, which is similar to a vitamin supplement.

Metformin, a drug used to treat diabetes, can also be helpful in regulating hormones in females struggling with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), according to some doctors. (Photo by Francis Dean/DeanPictures/Corbis via Getty Images)

“Both of those treatments can help regulate the glucose intolerance that we see often in PCOS,” she said. “And it helps to regulate the hormones better so that patients can operate on a regular basis.”

An additional treatment, Clomid, also known as Letrozole, may help promote regular ovulation. Always consult with professionals before taking any drug, of course.

“It’s all about promoting ovulation, getting [a woman’s] cycles more regular and helping her with the ancillary symptoms like hair growth with weight issues and the insulin sensitivity,” the doctor said.

PCOS can cause a high risk of miscarriage in pregnancies, yet there have been breakthroughs for patients who have undergone certain treatment.

Also, a more holistic approach to addressing imbalances is diet and exercise, with a focus on filling up on carbohydrates found in fruits, vegetables and whole grains.

Women’s rights activist says pregnant inmates at NJ women’s prison ‘shoots a hole’ in ‘trans ideology’

NEWYou can now listen to Fox News articles!

Two female inmates becoming pregnant at a women’s prison in Central Jersey obliterates the “trope” that “transgender women are women,” a women’s rights activist said Tuesday on “Tucker Carlson Tonight.”

Kara Dansky of the Women’s Human Rights Campaign was reacting to news out of the Edna Mahan Correctional Facility in Clinton, New Jersey where inmate Demitrius Minor, now known as Demi, reportedly impregnated both women.

Minor – then 16 — pleaded guilty in 2011 to aggravated manslaughter in the death of his foster father, Theotis Butts, according to the Gloucester County Times. He was later sentenced to 30 years in prison, which included a concurrent sentence for an unrelated carjacking.

One of the expectant mothers is reportedly Latonia Bellamy, convicted in connection with a 2010 double murder in Jersey City, according to the Daily Mail.

Edna Mahan currently houses 27 transgender inmates in the aftermath of a lawsuit that involved the American Civil Liberties Union.

Dansky said that men “need not … be housed in women’s prisons,” and that the state of New Jersey is reportedly characterizing the conditions at Edna Mahan as “housing transgender women in women’s prisons – suggesting there is some sort of subcategory of women that is called transgender women or trans women.”

“And it’s not true. The facts of this story shoots a hole right through the trope that trans women are women.”

Dansky said that no matter what public officials claim, there are biological realities that are exemplified in the Edna Mahan cases.

“The entire medical establishment in the United States has been captured by so-called trans ideology. And what I really want all Americans across the political spectrum to understand is that ‘trans-‘ is not a civil rights movement to protect a marginalized community of people,” Dansky went on.

“It is a multi-trillion-dollar industry pushing this. It’s paying the medical establishment [and] most media outlets [and] our government [and] our schools … to push the idea that the material reality of sex doesn’t exist.”
