JACKSON, Miss. (WLBT) – A local artist is showing thanks for a generous donation made to a Jackson sports complex by an NBA champion.
According to a post made by the capital city’s own Angie Thomas, a New York Times No. 1 best-selling author, local artist Chris Windfield painted a mural of Kyrie Irving at The Ark to honor the donation made by the NBA All-Star.
Dear @KyrieIrving, a few months ago I posted about a gym in Jackson, MS that needed a basketball court. You made a donation that allowed them to get one. A local artist put this piece in place so the kids can always see who did this for them.
Thank you. pic.twitter.com/alAnmR4zWp

The Ark is a sports complex in South Jackson started by New Horizon Church. Irving donated to the sports complex for an additional basketball court to be built in November.
Irving plays for the Dallas Mavericks alongside fellow NBA superstar and teammate Luka Doncic.
Founder Ronnie Crudup Jr. said in November that the generous donation is something that will only inspire Jackson children to work hard for their goals.
