Shots fired outside Lanier High School
JACKSON, Miss. (WLBT) – Police are investigating after multiple shots were fired outside Lanier High School.
Shell casings were discovered Monday night in the gym parking lot on Maple Street after the school’s track team returned from a meet.
JPS Executive Director of Public Engagement Sherwin Johnson said police were called to the scene after a school employee’s vehicle was struck with bullets, and one of its windows was shot out. He said there were no injuries.
So far, there is no word on what led to the gunfire, and it is unclear when the shooting happened.
The Jackson Police Department and JPS police were at the scene.
