BUFFALO, Ny. (WLBT) – The New Orleans Saints were not able to pull off the upset late against the Buffalo Bills, losing 31-19. The Saints now fall to 0-4 for the first time since 2012.

Early on, the Saints showed a lot of fight, responding to the Bills’ opening touchdown drive with their own 7-play, 69-yard drive capped off by an 18-yard rushing touchdown by Kendre Miller.

The Saints struggled to slow down the Bills’ offense though, allowing another touchdown drive on the very next drive.

At the end of the first half, the Saints had a chance inside the 5-yard line to take the lead, but the Saints attempted the “Philly Special” which ended in an interception for Chris Olave intended for Spencer Rattler.

In the second half, the Bills were able to put together another touchdown drive on their first drive of the half.

The Saints responded once again though, finishing an 11-play, 65-yard drive capped off by a Rattler passing touchdown to Chris Olave.

New Orleans had another shot in the fourth quarter to take the lead but had to settle for a field goal to make it a 21-19 game.

The Bills responded with a quick 4-play, 60-yard drive to make it a two-score game, making it very tough for a Saints comeback.

The Saints then followed up with two drives that ended in turnover on downs to close this game out.

Rattler finished 18-of-27 for 126 yards with a passing touchdown. He also used his legs very effectively throughout the game, tallying an additional 49 yards on the ground.

Alvin Kamara and Miller led the way in the backfield and were dominant. Kamara finished with 15 carries for 70 yards while Miller had 11 carries for 65 yards with a touchdown.

The Saints finished with 189 total rushing yards, the second most the Bills have allowed all year.

Rashid Shaheed was the leading receiver for the Saints, finishing with four catches for 47 yards. Rattler found six different receivers in the game.

For the defense, it was a solid showing as they finished with three sacks, five tackles for loss and an interception. However, the Bills’ run game gashed the Saints on multiple occasions, finishing with 165 total rushing yards on the day.

The Saints now head back home for a matchup next week against the New York Giants and new starting quarterback and former Ole Miss Rebel, Jaxson Dart.
