Registered sex offender arrested in Rankin County
RANKIN COUNTY, Miss. (WLBT) – A registered sex offender has been arrested in Rankin County.
According to authorities, Phillip Winter had absconded and was living in an unknown residence within Rankin County.
Investigators were able to confirm that Winter was living at an address in the Plantation Shore subdivision on Highway 49 South in Florence.
Winter was originally ordered to register as a sex offender after pleading guilty to statutory rape in 2008.
Winter has also been convicted of failure to register as a sex offender in 2021.
After his arrest, Winter was transported to the Rankin County Adult Detention Center and is being held on a $5,000 bond until his initial appearance before Rankin County Court Judge David Morrow, Jr.
