Pedestrian in wheelchair hit by two vehicles, killed in Jackson
JACKSON, Miss. (WLBT) – A pedestrian in a wheelchair was hit by two vehicles and killed in Jackson on Monday evening.
The incident happened on Raymond Road and Wilson Boulevard around 6:40 p.m.
The Jackson Police Department said the man was traveling eastbound on the road when he was hit by two vehicles, a 2012 white Ford Fusion and a 2010 silver Chevrolet Malibu.
The pedestrian was ejected from the wheelchair into the westbound lane when he was hit by the Fusion, at which time he was also then struck by the Malibu and trapped underneath it.
The man died as a result.
Hinds County Coroner Jeramiah Howard identified the victim as 43-year-old Jimmie Horton, Jr.
Both drivers remained at the scene of the incident and were issued citations for no insurance.
