MAGEE, Miss. (WLBT) – One person was killed, and another was taken to the hospital following a wreck Friday night in Magee.

The incident occurred along U.S. 49 South near the VFW Post, according to the Magee Police Department.

A vehicle driving southbound struck a pedestrian, killing him.

The driver initially was thought to have fled the scene but stopped his car farther down the street, Chief Denis Borges said.

“We made contact with him and have taken him to the hospital,” he said, referring to the driver.

He said the case was still being investigated, and it was too early to tell if the driver would be charged.
