GLENDALE, Az. (WLBT) – Ole Miss could not keep its dream season alive on Thursday night in the CFP Semifinals, losing to the Miami Hurricanes, 31-27.

With just 3:13 left on the clock, the Rebels were able to grab their first lead since the start of the second quarter.

Ole Miss just needed one stop defensively to put this game away, but Miami was able to recapture the lead late thanks to a 15-play, 75-yard drive capped off by a Carson Beck scramble, leaving just 18 seconds on the clock.

Trinidad Chambliss and the Rebels were able to put themselves in a position for a last-second shot to the endzone, but it would not come to be, sending Miami to the National Championship.

The Hurricanes owned the time of possession against the Rebels, with over 41 minutes of possession time compared to Ole Miss’ 18 minutes and 38 seconds.

Third down efficiency was a key stat in this matchup as well. Miami converted 11-of-19 third downs, while Ole Miss converted just two of its 10 attempts.

Chambliss finished the day through the air 23-of-37 for 277 yards and a touchdown.

Kewan Lacy had the biggest touchdown score of the day, a 73-yard rushing touchdown at the start of the second quarter to give the Rebels an early lead. He finished with 103 yards on 11 carries.

Ole Miss now heads into the offseason, with the transfer portal still open for next season’s team, which already has many key returning pieces.
