JACKSON, Miss. (WLBT) – After hosting one for 58 years, Mississippi will not be home to a PGA Tour event in 2026.

The PGA released its fall schedule on Friday, and that schedule did not include a tour stop in Jackson.

Steve Jent, executive director of Century Club Charities, the host company for the former Sanderson Farms Championship, confirmed the news with 3 On Your Side Friday afternoon.

“It’s been a great run – 58 years. We gave a million dollars to Children’s Hospital last year, and $700,000 to other charities. We had a great year and we’re going to try to have another really good one if we can,” he said.

Jent said the event was canceled because Century Club was unable to find a new title sponsor in time for the tournament to be scheduled.

Wayne-Sanderson Farms’ last year to sponsor the PGA event was 2025. The company announced it would no longer be the presenting sponsor in 2024 but agreed to stay on an additional year.

“It’s not an inexpensive branding opportunity… If you look across the PGA Tour, they’re usually publicly traded companies, or maybe resorts,” Jent said.

“There are only so many companies in the country that can do it or want to do it.”

In the meantime, Jent said Century Club will likely host a smaller event in 2026, and that Wayne-Sanderson has agreed to help with that.

The search for a new title sponsor for Mississippi’s premier golfing event will continue this year, with Century Club working to minimize its own expenses along the way.

“We have some reserve funds to keep us going for a little bit,” he said. “We still want to raise money for charity. We’re trying to make 2026 look as good as we can and try to figure out 2027.”
