JACKSON, Miss. (WLBT) – A North Jackson office complex will soon be transformed into more than a dozen high-end loft apartments.

Contractors have begun construction on the facility, which includes gutting two former office buildings at 2600 Ridgewood Rd., and repurposing them as 15 new one- and two-bedroom units.

Justin Peterson, president of StateStreet Group, the firm behind the project, says work should be completed by the spring of 2026 and that pre-leasing will likely begin before that.

“The demand for high-quality housing as we see it in Jackson, in the greater Jackson area, is strong,” he said. “The Quarter House and the Quarter Lofts right across the street, which we developed recently, leased up very quickly. We co-developed the Meridian at Fondren apartments. Those leased up very quickly.”

The units were designed by Tim Geddie and Robin Brown with Dean Architects.

“They are really good at these sorts of adaptive reuse floor plans, and we’ve got a good history with them because their design DNA goes all the way back to the very first Quarter Lofts units that we did,” he said.

The contractor is Grant Etheridge Construction out of Baton Rouge.

“We recently worked with them on some renovations at another residential community of ours nearby,” Peterson added. “And they’re very good at what they do.”

Peterson said despite being a small complex, tenants would have access to all of the amenities at the Quarter House, including the swimming pool, outdoor area, fitness center, and pickleball court.

“They’ll also get access to partnerships that we have through our Resident Rewards program for the area businesses at the Quarter, [and] also other Fondren area businesses that we have strategic partnerships with.”

He said the units would be on par with the dwellings at the Quarter. According to the Quarter House’s website, one-bedroom one-bath floor plans range from 505 square feet to 718 square feet. Two-bedrooms range from 967 square feet to just under 1,200 square feet.

Meanwhile, with their close proximity to nearby hospitals and downtown Jackson, Peterson said the units could be attractive to medical students, graduate students, and medical professionals.

“But we’ve also seen a large demand in the area from young professionals… retirees, and mid-career professionals,” he said. “It’s just a convenient, high-quality place to live.”
