JACKSON, Miss. (WLBT) – “A high-end breakfast experience,” this is what the owners of The Toasted Yolk say customers will experience when they come to try out the new spot.

Kathy Deer, Executive Director for the Pearl Chamber of Commerce, said, “The city is continuing to grow and we’re proud of that. We’ve got several more restaurants that are coming.”

Those new restaurants will include a new Wing Zone and a sandwich shop.

The Toasted Yoke in Pearl hosted its soft opening Friday.

Some attendees say they like how unique this spot is.

One of those residents was Cobain Greenwood. She said, “It’s different to have a breakfast and bar place around here because we don’t have one and an eating place like that. But it was pretty nice.”

Ardy Reed, the owner of The Toasted Yolk in Pearl, said the brunch restaurant is a one-of-a-kind spot in the community.

“What I’ve heard from the people in the area that I’ve talked to mostly is we’ve got a couple of breakfast places like the Cracker Barrel and Another Broken Egg. But there’s nothing really like this. And there was nothing really like this in the Pearl area. So there’s been a lot of excitement. I’ve had a ton of people say they love brunch. And of course, that’s what we do really, really well. So I think it’s going to fit in really well in the community.”

The southwest chain says they are excited to be in the community, serving you.

“We’re certainly excited to be here at Pearl. We’ve had a great working relationship with the mayor and the board of Baldwin, and they’ve bent over backwards to help us. We’re really excited about what we’re bringing to the community here. I think we’re going to have a lot of fun. It’s breakfast, but it’s a southwestern flair. So, I mean, you know, I think people will love it,” said Reed.

Some of you say you are excited to see the city’s growth, but would like to see more outside activities come to the area.

Greenwood went on and said, “Maybe more areas for kids and teenagers to hang out for free. Like more parks or stuff like that. It’s good to see things changing for the better, and it’s good for the community. It’s bringing everybody together.”

The Toasted Yolk will officially open at 7 a.m. Monday, May 12.
