PEARL RIVER COUNTY, Miss. (WLOX) — A mother and son were arrested on child abuse charges after a 14-year-old girl was reported to be pregnant, according to the Pearl River County Sheriff’s Office (PRCSO).
On June 30, PRCSO received a law enforcement referral from the Mississippi Department of Child Protection Services (MDCPS) regarding the 14-year-old, who was reported to be pregnant by an anonymous party.
PRCSO said an investigation was immediately initiated, and felony arrest warrants were eventually obtained for two people — Dawson James Brown, 27, and his mother Sabrina Brown, 54.
On July 17, 2026, PRCSO arrested Dawson Brown for one count of statutory rape, two counts of sexual battery, and one count of human trafficking.
The same day, PRCSO said Sabrina Brown was arrested on active felony warrants for conspiracy to commit tampering with evidence, attempted tampering with physical evidence, and child neglect.

“We are asking the public to respect the victim’s privacy and not share or release the juvenile’s identity,” PRCSO said in a Facebook post Friday.
Sabrina Brown has bonded out of jail. Dawson Brown has not, according to PRCSO.
This investigation is ongoing, and additional arrests are possible.
