Marquavius McLeod back in jail, days after jury refused to indict in St. Paddy’s shooting
JACKSON, Miss. (WLBT) – A man released from jail last week after a grand jury failed to indict him in connection with a shooting after the Hal’s St. Paddy’s Parade is back behind bars.
Hinds County Sheriff Tyree Jones confirmed Marquavius McLeod was re-arrested Wednesday night and taken to the Hinds County Detention Center in Raymond.
He is being charged with being a convicted felon in possession of a firearm.
Last week, McLeod and his brother Michael McLeod were released from custody after a Hinds County grand jury failed to indict the two on charges stemming from a March 2025 shooting hours after the St. Paddy’s Parade.
Records found in the Mississippi Electronic Courts database show that McLeod has been indicted on multiple charges in recent years, and in August 2024 received a seven-year suspended sentence after he pleaded guilty to being in possession of a stolen vehicle.
