GULFPORT, Miss. (WLBT) – A man has pleaded guilty to multiple charges in a drive-by shooting that resulted in the death of a 6-year-old boy in McComb.

In February of 2022, 6-year-old Oterrious Marks was shot and killed during a drive-by shooting at a park on the corner of Minnesota Avenue and 6th Street. Four others were also injured.

On Tuesday, according to the Pike County District Attorney’s Office, Yjari Jackson pleaded guilty to accessory after the fact of murder, two counts of conspiracy to commit murder, and four counts of aggravated assault.

He admitted to driving the vehicle while the other three teenagers fired guns.

The plea came just before his trial on first-degree murder was to start in the Harrison County Courthouse in Gulfport. The DA’s office said the trials for the four were severed, each to be tried separately and each moved out of Pike County on a change of venue.

Sentencing will likely take place after the three other suspects are tried.

Reed, Cameron, and Thompson are charged with first-degree murder, four counts of attempted murder, and conspiracy to commit murder.

Trial dates or locations for the other defendants have not yet been set.
