PEARL, Miss. (WLBT) – Detectives in Pearl have identified the man who led them on a police chase into Jackson Tuesday.
Investigators say Derrick Parnell Trigg, 30, of Florence is in custody with quite a few charges against him.
It all started when Trigg refused to stop on the I-20 westbound ramp on Hwy 49 during a traffic stop for speeding, investigators say.
A police chase then began in Pearl but later ended on Mason Boulevard and Lee Drive in Jackson with no one injured.
Surprisingly, that’s when police say Trigg jumped out of the vehicle with a baby in his arms.
Police say a small crowd formed around the scene after a short foot pursuit but Hinds County deputies assisted with crowd control.
No word on whose infant Trigg was carrying, but the charges against him include:
- Speeding 10-19 miles over the limit
- Driving under the influence
- DUI Child Endangerment
- Possession of marijuana
- Expired, altered, or no license tag
- Motor vehicle insurance, failure to have
- No or expired drivers license
- Failure to stop motor vehicle when officer signals
- Failure to appear
