MADISON CO., Miss. (WLBT) – A man has been sentenced to serve 40 years in prison for shooting at Ridgeland Police Department officers.
On May 4, 2024, two officers with the Ridgeland Police Department and a SWAT team responded to a call for a domestic disturbance at Ridgeland Place Apartments on William Boulevard.
The Madison Police Department and the Madison County Sheriff’s Department also responded to the scene.
When law enforcement arrived, Keithannin Starks, 29, and his girlfriend were inside the apartment and officers could hear screaming.
She was able to exit the apartment building.
As officers were attempting to get the door open, Starks fired multiple rounds through the door at the officers.
Neither officer was hit.
After a nearly hour-long standoff, Starks surrendered himself to authorities.
Starks pleaded guilty in the Madison County Circuit Court to two counts of aggravated assault on law enforcement officers.
