JACKSON, Miss. (WLBT) -Hello everyone, we’re monitoring severe weather that could affect us later this week, with multiple First Alert Weather Days. For now, we’re enjoying calm and very warm conditions.

Today, temperatures will remain warm, reaching the mid to upper 70s and low 80s across the area. Expect plenty of sunshine, so make sure to enjoy the beautiful weather today. However, be aware that we could see some isolated rain showers as the day goes on.

A Marginal risk (Level 1/5) for strong storms is in place for early Thursday morning. They will primarily impact the lower delta. The main threats will be damaging winds and large hail, but the focus is shifting to the weekend.

We’re tracking an Enhanced risk (Level 3/5) for severe weather on Friday, with conditions setting up for significant storms. All types of severe weather are possible, but the biggest concern is damaging winds, especially with gradient winds up to 40mph during the day. The storms will occur from 4 p.m. to 6 a.m. Saturday for areas along and north of I-20.

Saturday looks like the most concerning day. We’ll be monitoring severe weather across Mississippi and Alabama, with nearly all of central Mississippi under a Level 4/5 Moderate risk. All modes of severe weather will be possible, with a very high potential for tornadoes, damaging winds, and large hail as multiple storm cells develop in our area. The event will likely begin at 7 am and continue through the early afternoon, lasting until 6 pm for areas to the east.

We’ll continue to monitor the situation and provide more details as we get closer to the weekend. Stay tuned for updates, and we’ll keep you informed on everything you need to know about the upcoming severe weather.
