The Rankin County Sheriff’s Office is requesting the public’s assistance in a case involving a bike which was taken from the driveway of a residence.

On Jan. 5 at approximately 2 p.m., an unknown white male loaded a blue Lectric XP4 eBike into an older model white Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck.

The eBike had been sitting in the driveway of a Houston Acres residence near Florence, Mississippi.

According to officials, it is believed that the eBike “may have been mistaken for garbage/trash and picked up by someone hoping to salvage it.”

The Rankin County Sheriff’s Office is requesting the individual contact the department so the eBike, which was a Christmas present, can be returned to the child it belongs to.

The pickup truck has a black toolbox, black rim on the back passenger side, and an “In God We Trust” sticker in the back glass.

This is an active and ongoing investigation.

If anyone has any information related to this case, they are asked to contact the Rankin County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division at (601) 825-1480.
