2 dead, 2 injured after a two-vehicle car accident in Yazoo City
YAZOO CITY, Miss. (WLBT) – Two people are dead, and two are hospitalized after a major wreck in Yazoo City Monday evening.
The traffic accident happened at the intersection of Grand Avenue and Seventh Street, according to Yazoo County Coroner Ricky Shivers.
When Yazoo City Police officers arrived, they found two vehicles, with one lying on its side.
Officers assisted the front passenger from the car, and she was taken to Baptist Medical Center Yazoo, a block away from the crash site.
When first responders arrived, the unresponsive driver of the car was removed, and CPR was started.
EMS units came in and took over resuscitation efforts.
Another victim was noted to be unresponsive in a residential yard, 15 to 20 feet away from the car.
CPR was started on him as well.
According to Coroner Shivers, both victims were pronounced dead on the scene.
The deceased were identified as Jordan Patterson, 23, who was driving, and Michael Cole, 27, who was a backseat passenger.
Cole had been ejected from the car as it was rolling multiple times.
The driver of a pickup truck was airlifted to Mississippi’s Trauma Center at the University of Mississippi Medical Center.
The accident is under investigation by the Yazoo City Police Department.
